Fujitsu Positioned in Leader Quadrants of Three Independent Software Research Reports
Sales for Fujitsu Interstage Suite in North America and Europe Grew by 150 Percent
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 25, 2007- Fujitsu was positioned in the leader's quadrant in three new Gartner Magic Quadrant reports on Application Infrastructure, New Service-Oriented Business Application Projects, and Back-End Integration Projects. Fujitsu was also placed in the Challenger Quadrant for Composite-Application Projects.
Fujitsu has seen accelerated demand for its Interstage® Suite, one of the world's broadest lines of application infrastructure software products. Sales for the Fujitsu Interstage Suite grew exponentially in 2006 with the North American and European markets alone recording a 150 percent increase in sales during this period as customers and partners made Interstage Suite products their solution of choice to design, deploy and manage their applications by utilizing a service-oriented architecture (SOA) approach.
According to Gartner, "The combination of product evolution and convergence has resulted in overlapping capabilities in what were considered separate product categories. The separation of development tools and runtime middleware has also blurred." (*1)
"We believe the leadership position of Fujitsu on these various Magic Quadrant reports reflects the overall depth and breadth of our products and services, which are laser-focused on solving the real-world needs of the customers we talk to every day," said Ryosuke Mori, executive vice president, Software and Strategy, at Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation. "Our standard-based Interstage solutions provide the most flexible path for adapting and managing the lifecycle of their applications and the lifeblood of their organizations."
Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure, 2Q07 (*1)
Gartner's new category of software, "application infrastructure," includes "the majority of runtime middleware, as well
as application development and management tools that support the new generation of application styles based on SOA, event-driven
architecture and business process management (BPM) technology."
Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for New Service-Oriented Business Application Projects, 2Q07 (*2)
According to this report, "New service-oriented business applications require a complex collection of capabilities in runtime-enabling
technologies and development tools." Leaders in this Magic Quadrant "combine insightful understanding of the realities
of the market, the ability to influence the market's direction, the capability to attract and keep a following, and the capacity
to lead. A leader has the proven ability to deliver on its vision and to support its customers through periods of stability,
as well as periods of change. Leaders control most of the market's business activity and are the primary influencers of market
evolution."
Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Back-End Application Integration Projects, 2Q07 (*3)
Leaders in this Magic Quadrant have "a proven and comprehensive integrated product set, as well as a sizeable installed
base of reasonably satisfied clients. They have an ample installed base of products to cross-sell their integration solutions
to, and have demonstrated their ability to anticipate technology and market trends over the years by extending their offers
with composite, application-enabling technology."
Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Composite-Application Projects, 2Q07 (*4)
Fujitsu was placed in the Challenger Quadrant in this report, which focuses on "new, user-centric applications front-ending
pre-existing . . . applications. The new application logic developed for the composite application . . . typically is meant
to provide a new (multichannel) front end to one or more established applications, increasingly in the context of SOA initiatives."
Challengers in the Magic Quadrant "have demonstrated that their technology can support the implementation of numerous, large, business-critical composite-application projects and have built platforms capable of effectively competing and often winning against the leaders."
