MB86H60
HD Multi Standard Decoder for Set-Top-Boxes

Fujitsu MB86H60 is a highly integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) and complies with the DVB standard currently used in various regions, mainly Europe. The LSI decodes full HD video compressed in either MPEG-2 or H.264 and integrates on a single chip the necessary processing functions for a HD broadcast receiver, including processing of digital video, audio, and graphics. This makes the multi-decoder suitable for TVs, set-top boxes, and portable TV receivers. Also, as the LSI's functions can be implemented with the addition of only two 16-bit wide external memory chips, it allows set vendors to reduce their total costs when designing their TVs and set-top-boxes.

Following HD broadcasting in Japan and the US, for the ramp up of HD broadcasting in Europe, Fujitsu built on its expertise and experience of SmartMPEG series along with H.264 decoder technology, to offer this multi-decoder, MB86H60, capable of supporting both MPEG-2 and H.264 video compression formats on a single chip.

Low Power H.264/MPEG-2 Full HD Transcoder LSI

The Fujitsu MB86H57, MB86H58 can convert between Full HD (1920dots x 1080lines) MPEG-2 video data and H.264 video data, as well as transcoding between audio formats while featuring a low power consumption.

These new ICs are targeted to support the growing number of electronic equipment that can record digital broadcasts. By employing Fujitsu’s proprietary transcode technology, Fujitsu Microelectronics realized industry-leading low power consumption of only 1.0Watt(W) including the in-package memory.

Combined with the small form-factor packaging, these ICs can be used not only for non-mobile fixed electronic equipment - such as digital video recorders (DVRs) - but also in such mobile products such as notebook PCs. In addition to the transcode function, security functions are included on a single chip to make it easy for customers to create their systems.

Ultra Low Power Full High-Definition (HD) H.264 CODEC LSI

Fujitsu MB86H55, MB86H56 can compress and decompress full HD video (1,920 dots x 1,080 lines) in the H.264 format in real-time. The two products feature power consumption of only 500mW during Full HD encoding including the in-package memory, an industry-leading level for low power consumption. In addition, MB86H56 offers processing of Full HD video at 60p, to improve picture quality even further.

These two products have memory in-package to offer a small package size of 15mm x 15mm, thus making it ideal to record, play and transmit superior picture quality HD video on portable devices such as digital camcorders, as well as on home networked appliances, commercial broadcast equipment, and security cameras.

These two products utilize Fujitsu Laboratories' proprietary picture quality algorithm to realize superior picture quality and a reduced video processing burden enabled by high-compression technology.
