Amedia Networks Deploying the Fujitsu MPEG Encoder and Decoder Technology in New Wireless A/V Transmitter and Receiver to be Demonstrated at CES 2007

Sunnyvale, CA, December 21, 2006 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA), a leader in MPEG-based entertainment technology, today announced that Amedia Networks, Inc., a provider of next-generation residential media gateways, is using the Fujitsu MPEG encoder and decoder technology in its new wireless audio-video transmitter and receiver systems. The new systems will be demonstrated at the 2007 International CES January 8-11 in Las Vegas, Fujitsu booth number 70809. Fujitsu and Amedia also plan to complete a High Definition (HD) solution by using the new H.264 (High Profile, level 4.0) CODEC device. (See related December 11, 2006, press release announcement.) The Amedia design will also be demonstrated in the Fujitsu booth.

Fujitsu To Introduce New H.264 Format Video-Processing IC for Next-Generation DVD HD Recording and Playback

Sunnyvale, CA, December 11, 2006 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) today announced the industry's first large-scale IC capable of real-time compression and decompression of high-definition TV-level video in H.264 format. The MB80H50, scheduled to be released in March 2007, is based on an H.264 processing algorithm developed by Fujitsu Laboratories Limited. The IC is designed with Fujitsu's high-performance audio and video processing technology and will be manufactured using the company's 90nm process technology.

Tokyo, November 30, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of a new large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) chip capable of real-time compression and decompression of high-definition TV-level video, in H.264 format. The new LSI chip, to be released in March 2007, is based on a H.264 processing algorithm developed by Fujitsu Laboratories Limited and integrates Fujitsu's high-performance audio and video processing technology with its 90nm process technology. This is the industry's first such chip to support H.264 High Profile, Level 4.0 standard used in next-generation DVDs. This LSI enables high-resolution recording, playback, and transmission of high-definition video on audio-visual products such as surveillance cameras, hard disk recorders, and home network equipments.

Fujitsu Develops Optical Element for Thermal Assisted Magnetic Recording

Sunnyvale, CA, November 28, 2006 – Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced that Fujitsu has developed a multi-layered optical element for thermal assisted magnetic recording. Using this optical element, engineers were able to achieve a sub-hundred nanometer (nm) optical spot size, which is considered an enabling element for the successful deployment of one terabit per square inch recording technology for hard disk drives. This groundbreaking development was presented during the International Symposium on Optical Memory (ISOM) in Japan this past October.

Fujitsu and Advantest Establish Joint Venture for LSI Prototyping Services: e-Shuttle, Inc.

Tokyo, October 30, 2006 – Tokyo, October 30, 2006 - Fujitsu Limited and Advantest Corporation today announced their agreement to establish on November 1 a new joint venture, e-Shuttle, Inc., to provide prototyping services for leading-edge large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) semiconductors. e-Shuttle will use electron beam direct lithography technology that combines advanced semiconductor process technologies with electron beam exposure systems, to provide new LSI prototyping services for 65nm process technology. The services are scheduled to start in the first half of fiscal 2007 (April - September).

Fujitsu Introduces New High-Performance, 32-bit Microcontrollers with CAN Support for Advanced Automotive Applications

Detroit, MI , October 16, 2006 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) today introduced three new high-performance, 32-bit microcontrollers for next-generation automotive applications. The new ICs, part of Fujitsu's MB91460 series, include the MB91F464AA and MB91F465KA, which have been designed for automotive body control applications. The third MCU, the MB91F467RA, was designed for on-board entertainment and information systems. All three MCUs incorporate Controller Area Network (CAN) interfaces and are available now.

Fujitsu to Purchase Semiconductor Fabs in Japan from Spansion

Tokyo, September 28, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has signed an agreement today with Spansion Japan Limited to purchase Spansion Japan's semiconductor fabs in Japan known as JV1 and JV2, located in the city of Aizu-Wakamatsu in Fukushima prefecture of northeastern Japan. As an extension of Fujitsu's ongoing business strategy of focusing on logic large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) devices, in addition to production of advanced logic LSI devices at its 300mm fab in Mie, Japan, as part of its strategy to reinforce its standard logic LSI device business Fujitsu will increase production at JV1 and JV2 with a focus on production of flash memory-embedded microcontrollers that anticipated to see market growth. For the immediate future, Fujitsu will continue to manufacture certain flash memory products for Spansion that are currently manufactured at fabs JV1 and JV2 under their foundry arrangement.

Fujitsu and Advantest to Establish Joint Venture to Create Semiconductor Prototypes Using Electron Beam Direct Lithography

Tokyo, September 15, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Advantest Corporation today announced plans to establish a joint venture to create prototype semiconductors by using electron beam direct lithography, a technology that combines 65 nanometer (nm) and 45 nm semiconductor process technologies with electron beam exposure devices. The companies are currently discussing the terms of a formal contract, targeting November for this year for establishment of the joint venture.

Fujitsu and Tokyo Institute of Technology Announce the Development of New Material for 256Mbit FeRAM Using 65-nanometer Technology

Sunnyvale, CA, August 2, 2006 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) announced that the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo-Tech), Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., and Fujitsu Limited have jointly developed a new material for a new generation of non-volatile Ferroelectric Random Access Memory (FeRAM). The material is a modified composition of Bismuth Ferrite (BiFeO3 or BFO), which enables data storage capacity up to five times greater than the materials currently used in FeRAM production.
