26 June 2003 Japan: Fujitsu Releases AccelArray™ Structured ASIC Devices
Tokyo, June 26, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the release of the AccelArray™ structured ASIC devices that deliver faster, less costly development times through the use of standardized interconnect layers for basic system circuitry and key IP macros embedded in the base master of the architecture. AccelArray ASICs are built on Fujitsu's advanced 0.11-micron process to achieve performance on par with standard cell ASICs in 0.11-micron technology.
25 June 2003 USA: Fujitsu Introduces Industry's First Single-Chip 10Gbps Ethernet Switch Chip
Sunnyvale, CA, June 25, 2003 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc. (FLA) today introduced the industry’s first 10Gbps Ethernet switch chip, MB87Q3050, developed for layer 2 functions in high-performance server designs. The new 10Gbps switch chip enables system designers to develop compact and less costly switches, using high-performance, multi-ported memory that handles simultaneous read and write operation to and from all twelve 10Gbps ports, providing a total bandwidth capacity of 240Gbps.
12 June 2003 Japan: Fujitsu and Advanced Media Collaborate to Develop System Chips Employing Distributed Speech Recognition Technology
Tokyo, June 12, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited and Advanced Media, Inc. today announced that they have embedded Advanced Media's AmiVoice distributed speech recognition (AmiVoice DSR) software technology for the Japanese language in a system-on-chip solution using Fujitsu's LSI Technology and FAITH™ chip-design methodology.

There were no injuries to employees.

12 May 2003 Germany: Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe Launches General-Purpose 8-Bit MCUs with LIN-Compatible UART Interface
Frankfurt, May 12, 2003 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) today introduced two cost-effective 8-bit microcontrollers for automotive body-control module subsystems. The MB89210 series of F2MC controllers includes Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) capabilities that support the Local Interconnect Network (LIN). LIN, along with the Controller Area Network (CAN), has emerged as a de facto, low-cost communications standard for in-vehicle networks.

Tokyo, April 10, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the release of two new low-voltage (1.8V) flash-memory products that respond to mobile communications devices' growing needs for greater storage capacity, high-speed operation and lower power consumption. The MBMN29BS12DH is a NOR-type 128-Mbit product with burst mode functionality for use in mobile devices. The MBM29SL800TE and MBM29SL800BE are NOR-type 8-Mbit products employing Super Chip Size Package (Super-CSPTM) packaging technology for use in wireless communications modules, such as Bluetooth, and for ultra-compact mobile devices.

1 April 2003 Japan: AMD and Fujitsu Announce New Flash Memory Company
Tokyo, April 1, 2003 – AMD (NYSE: AMD) and Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702, "Fujitsu") today announced they have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a new Flash memory semiconductor company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. A Japan headquarters will be located in Tokyo. The new company, to be called FASL LLC, will be based on the integration of AMD and Fujitsu's Flash memory businesses, including their existing joint manufacturing venture, Fujitsu AMD Semiconductor Limited. The new company is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of this year.

27 February 2003 Japan: Fujitsu Develops High Capacity, High Speed Chip with Embedded FRAM for RFID Tags
Tokyo, February 27, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of the MB89R116, an FRAM-embedded chip for radio frequency identification (RFID) tags that can, at high speeds, read/write data 100 times greater than bar-codes and 30 times greater than tags using EEPROM. The new chip, which is available starting today, is designed for precision tracking of product quality as products move through distribution channels, and can be used for a wide variety of products.

25 February 2003 Japan: Fujitsu Develops World's First CMOS Interface Technology for 10Gbps Parallel Transmissions
Tokyo, February 25, 2003 – Fujitsu Laboratories and Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of the world's first CMOS parallel-interface device for use in standard logic LSI devices to enable high-speed, multi-channel transmissions at speeds of up to 10Gbps. Use of the new technology will enable servers, storage devices and communications equipment to handle even larger amounts of data at higher speeds while consuming less power. It is expected to lead to a dramatic increase in the speed and performance of network systems.

Tokyo, February 17, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited, NEC Electronics Corporation and Toshiba Corporation announced today that they have reached an agreement on common specifications for Pseudo Static Random Access Memory (PSRAM) devices that feature burst mode function enabling fast access operation. Each of the three companies will independently manufacture and market PSRAM products based on the common specifications, which are to be called Common Specifications for Mobile RAM (COSMORAM), with product introduction expected to begin in the first half of fiscal 2003.
