ETERNUS2000 storage systems
Compact and highly reliable

Regulatory compliance is one of the most demanding issues in business management. ETERNUS2000 has been built with the flexibility to resolve your compliance concerns. It also meets the needs of small-to-mid-sized enterprises with space saving, low-power and low noise implementation. Importantly there has been no compromises with high-reliability. Fujitsu's unique approach has ensured the stability of its high-end systems is achieved in these more modular storage solutions.

Office Installation.
That's one reason for a small-footprint, low-noise focus.

When it comes to installing storage systems in the workplace, rather than a data center, space and noise become major concerns.

ETERNUS2000 uses a single chip design RAID controller to minimize circuit board size. The result is a compact enclosure able to offer 9TB (*Note 1) in 2U (*Note 2). That's twice as compact as previous systems.

In addition, ETERNUS2000 uses step control of fan rotation to better match cooling to external air temperatures. This enables noise output to be reduced to the library-class 42dB zone (*Note3).

Fujitsu has chosen to focus on ensuring customers' needs for compact systems with high-capacity and very quiet operation as the basis of its ongoing effort and innovation of products for use in all office environments.

*Note 1: Physical capacity calculated using 1KByte= 1,000 Bytes.
*Note 2: 2U represents height of units in a 19-inch rack (2U=88mm).
*Note 3: Value measured when ambient temperature is below 25℃ (ISO 7779 compliant).
Higher temperatures may generate higher noise levels due to fan rotation control function.

Low-power consumption and Eco-mode operation.
Fujitsu has the technologies to achieve additional TCO reduction.

By achieving a reduction in the total number of components, ETERNUS2000 uses less power, delivering savings of up to 40% compared to previous systems.
In addition, the Eco-mode option can help you achieve a further 15% (*Note 4) in power consumption. You are able to schedule the stopping of spindle rotation of nearline disk drives, used for backup, for specific periods. These methods not only reduce system operation costs but also heat dissipation and attendant cooling costs.

By focusing on management software as well, Fujitsu provides user-friendly guidance that let's you set up ETERNUS2000 exactly as required. Simple selection of items from the graphical menus not only invokes the required functions but also minimizes the system management load.

Such solid technologies developed from a focus on TCO reduction mean that both software and hardware deliver outstanding usability and ensure that the best possible storage solution is implemented in each environment.

*Note 4: Based on a configuration of 7.5TB SAS disk drives for production use & 18TB SATA disk drives for 3-generation backup. (Comparison of a 24 hour system operating 5 hours of backup disk drives with ECO-mode and the same system operation and backup without ECO-mode).

Business continuity and data integrity.
Advanced reliability expanded to all business functions.

The main components of ETERNUS2000, including controllers, power units, and fans, are duplicated to ensure continuous operation and high reliability even during unexpected failure events. In addition, enhanced backup functions provide robust support for daily data management.
In particular Advanced Copy functions provide Disk to Disk high-speed replication functions previously only found on high-end systems.

During data exchange with servers, ETERNUS2000 adds check codes to data to ensure problems cannot go undetected. If a problem occurs, the Block Guard function works to recover the system automatically. In addition, once any sign of disk drive failure is detected, the Redundant Copy function automatically copies data to a spare disk. It also ensures data redundancy is maintained and only off-lines the faulty disk for replacement once the secure copy is completed. Such high-reliability technology previously available only with high-end systems can now be yours on entry-class systems.

Your enterprise information has become one of the most important assets of the business. Any loss will not just be expensive to replace, it may also result in a loss of business credibility. That is why Fujitsu is pursuing the delivery of functions and reliability with a strict focus on data integrity. Through its three-tier lineup of storage systems; entry-level ETERNUS2000, midrange-class ETERNUS4000 and enterprise-class ETERNUS8000, Fujitsu is continuing to support its customers business opportunities however big they grow.
