Manufacturers should be environmentally responsible

Space, power saving, low noise design

These days, all products need to be environmentally responsible. Fujitsu achieves this using its own environmental management policy based on world's best practice ISO 140001standards.

But as well as being developed considering the environment; energy efficiency is another essential factor in ongoing costs and greenhouse gases reduction. ETERNUS2000 uses 40% less power than previous systems (Note1), reducing your cost of ownership as well as benefiting the environment.

ETERNUS2000's compact design, based on a new consolidated chip, means a 60% smaller footprint (Note1). This will lower your floor space costs as well as reduce location conditioning costs.

ETERNUS2000 with its single chip design provides one further important benefit for you. Fewer components mean fewer opportunities for failure, making ETERNUS2000 more reliable than any previous storage system.

Note1: Comparison with previous system of equivalent capacity, ETERNUS4000 model80.

The unique design of ETERNUS2000, developed using state-of-the-art technology, reduces environmental impact while minimizing space, weight and power consumption requirements.

Economical storage management with Eco-mode.

ETERNUS2000 offers an Eco-mode using MAID technology (Note3).

This Eco-mode further reduces power consumption by stopping spindle rotation on drives not being accessed. Set by specifying the disk drives and their scheduled usage times, it can be limited to specific RAID groups.

Once a disk drive is scheduled, its rotation stops if it is not accessed for over 10 minutes. If information on a stopped disk needs to be accessed, it can be restarted in about 1 minute.

For example, by scheduling a 19 hour rotation stop for 24 volumes used for backup, a 15 % reduction in overall power consumption would be achieved. Further reducing environmental impact. A major side benefit of this technology is that drive life is also extended.

Eco-mode is highly recommended for use with disk drives that do not need to be available at all times, such as backup and archive volumes.

Note3: MAID technology: An acronym for "Massive Array of Idle Disks". This technology extends disk drive life and reduces power consumption, by stopping spindle rotation on less frequently accessed drives.

Industry leading tranquility

ETERNUS2000 is designed with tranquility in mind. Efficient and automatic step control of fan rotation, matched to external air temperature, achieves library-level noise output levels - in the 42dB range (Note4). This is the quietest operational environment in the industry. It enables non-intrusive implementation in the quietest of public or business spaces.

Note4: Value measured when ambient temperature is below 25℃ (ISO 7779 compliant).
Higher temperatures may generate higher noise levels due to fan rotation control function.

As shown here, ETERNUS2000 reduces costs and installation impact by providing technology that enables power and space savings while reducing environmental effects and extending disk drive life.
