ETERNUS2000 supports two disk drive types: SAS disk drives and Nearline SATA disk drives. SAS disks suit online use due to their high-speed and 24-hour reliability profile, while Nearline SATA disks, with their improved cost per GB profile, are excellent for data archiving and fast backup/recovery.

Both disk types can be mounted in the same ETERNUS2000 drive enclosure so you don't have to have separate enclosures for real-time and archival data. This greatly reduces initial costs and the cost of incremental upgrades.
