Hardware data replication
The Advanced Copy function of ETERNUS Disk storage systems provides high-speed Disk to Disk (D2D) copying for Storage Area Network (SAN) environments. It enables data to be replicated (copied) at any given point in time while dramatically reducing backup time and without needing to stop normal operations. The Advanced Copy function offers a range of functions to match specific customer requirements:
- EC (Equivalent Copy) function: Replicates in synchronization with the original data
- OPC (One Point Copy) function: Replicates all the original data at the time of the request
- Quick OPC function: Replicates only the data items that have been updated.
Inter-working with databases
The Advanced Copy function is effective in duplicating transactions (mirroring) on Symfoware and Oracle databases. This reduces the load on the CPUs of the database server by enabling hardware-level mirroring.
