Security Compliance

Lead by the introduction of the SOX act in the United States in 2002 and similar data protection and preservation laws in other countries (E.g. The Personal Information Protection and Financial Instruments and Exchange Laws in Japan (2004 and 2008)), companies must now take positive action and greater care to ensure compliance with such regulations. Security and regulatory compliance are also important from a social responsibility standpoint and for success in global business operations. With a range of capabilities for external attack prevention and internal data security, ETERNUS storage systems provide information reliability, leakage prevention, data consistency and long term data protection beyond the life of any specific storage device.
Disk Encryption
ETERNUS Disk storage systems internally encrypt data prevent unauthorized data access. Even if disks are lost or stolen during maintenance or transportation, the data remains protected.
Tape Encryption
LTO Ultirium4 tapes used in ETERNUS Tape libraries support a write data encryption function. This prevents information leakage even if tape cartridges are lost or stolen as data is protected from unauthorized reads. In addition, the encryption key used for encryption can be managed inside the tape library.

Encrypted data transmission over a network
Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Secure Shell (SSH) provides encrypted transmission of data over a network. By encrypting transmission between ETERNUS disk storage systems and operation terminals, unauthorized or malicious access, alteration or theft of data can be avoided.
