ETERNUS VS900 Fibre channel switch virtulaization technology leverages efficient storage resouce use.
ETERNUS VS900, in cooperation with ETRNUS SF Storage Cruiser, enables physical disk devices to be used as virtual storage.
By assigning virtual storage pool volumes according to opeartional requirements, highly efficient storage asset utilization
can be achieved without any effect on server resouces.

devices.

Flexible storage operation
ETERNUS VS900, in cooperation with ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser software, provides storage virtualization.
This technology not only frees up unused space but also scales application volumes, as required, by adding volumes from a
virtual storage pool. This makes storage operation much more flexible.
Backup / restore / replication functions
ETERNUS VS900, in cooperation with ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager software, offers backup, restore and replication of data in the virtual storage pool with minimum effect on applications as no server resources are required.
Migration function
With ETERNUS VS900, data migration to new devices and the addition of disk devices to relieve disk capacity shortages can
be performed during normal operation, without any need to change server definitions.
VS900 undertakes data migration processing in background and allows servers to continue to access all data on the virtualized
disk devices.
Easy operation management
Using the related ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser software, management and the setting of SAN, NAS and DAS storage environments can be undertaken using a single operator panel. From installation to operation the system administrator's workload is reduced.
High reliability
By redundantly configuring ETERNUS VS900, continuous operation is possible even following an unexpected hardware failure.
VS900 also protects the application servers from the effects of a server down. Use of ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser software
with ETERNUS VS900 enables early solution of errors using the "Remote Notification function". This function provides Fujitsu's
support center with the error information on the ETERNUS VS900. Fujitsu support center personnel can then identify the error,
arrange necessary repairs and dispatch maintenance personnel as quickly as possible.

Status, performance monitoring and setup of ETERNUS VS900 via Web browser access to fibre channels switches. - Zoning
Zone creation using port names of fibre channel switches and WWW (World Wide Names) to restrict access between specific zones.
