PRIMEPOWER 2500 enables up to 128 SPARC64™ V processors to be installed in an SMP configuration - the world’s highest scalability in an SMP configuration. This allows flexible response to demands for system expansion or rapid expansion in data volume processing following changes in business operations.

Large-scale SMP configuration

PRIMEPOWER adopts an SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processing) configuration that permits each CPU to access memory concurrently. In this configuration, any memory unit can be accessed from any CPU in the same way, no matter where the respective memory is mounted. In other words, multiple memory units can be handled as a single, large-scale memory space.

For general applications, this means that server performance can be increased simply by increasing the number of CPUs or the memory capacity of the server, without special tuning.
