Innovation or Investment Protection? Why not choose both?

Equally important, under the terms of our expanded relationship, you as our customer immediately have a broader set of choices in how you buy Sun Fire™ and PRIMEPOWER systems. In certain geographies Fujitsu is adding Sun Fire systems to its portfolio, while Sun, at the very same time, is adding PRIMEPOWER systems to its product line. Depending on your specific needs, both Sun and Fujitsu will now be equipped with a broader set of products, both running current and next generation versions of Solaris, to meet your business requirements. Service and support will be provided by the vendor who delivers the specific system.

Speeding Business Innovations that matter

Another advantage you get from this newly expanded partnership is faster access to innovations that matter. As we mentioned, ISVs play a vital role in delivering business innovation that customers care about - and ISVs are already responding with greater investment and faster time to market plans thanks to Sun’s and Fujitsu’s increasing commitment to the Solaris on SPARC market.

Coming in 2006 : The Advanced Product Line from Sun and Fujitsu

Just as exciting are the bold innovations that Sun and Fujitsu will be bringing to market in 2006. Our joint development effort is already well underway on a new generation of SPARC-based systems, which we have code-named the Advanced Product Line (APL). APL systems will utilize the industry-leading technology, design and manufacturing capabilities of both Sun and Fujitsu. We are building into our APL systems innovations and features that will rival the best of the systems that will be available on the market. High end systems will be developed by Fujitsu. Sun and Fujitsu will collaborate on mid range systems, while the low end will be developed by Sun. High end and mid range servers will be manufactured jointly by Sun and Fujitsu at manufacturing sites in Asia, Europe and the US. Low end systems will be manufactured by Sun. We believe our customers will find many compelling reasons to upgrade from their existing Sun Fire and PRIMEPOWER systems in order to gain the advantages enabled by these next-generation SPARC-based systems.
