PRIMEPOWER = (Maximized Uptime) x (Maximized Throughput)

PRIMEPOWER are UNIX server platforms designed to provide customers with both high reliability and high throughput. They are based on PRIMEPOWER key technologies including high performance SPARC64™ V processors, large scale SMP configurations, partitioning and clustering. These technologies are fostered through Fujitsu’s leading technology development in highly reliable mainframes and high performance supercomputers.
Solaris, the standard Operating System of PRIMEPOWER, is the No.1 UNIX OS with the world's highest UNIX market share. As a result the broadest range of high reliability and high throughput solutions are available on PRIMEPOWER.
Maximized Uptime
PRIMEPOWER maximizes uptime through component redundancy and hot-swapping of failed components. Moreover, predictive monitoring features prevent component failures and help to accurately and quickly recover from hardware problems.
Fujitsu's efforts are always centered on sustaining stable operation of their customer's business. PRIMEPOWER's high reliability technology originated from this Fujitsu mind set. PRIMEPOWER is therefore based on this continuing philosophy and policy, unchanged since its mainframe development launch that hardware problems should be handled by the hardware technology itself as this is the best way to swiftly and accurately pinpoint such problems.
Maximized Throughput
SPARC64 V processors, which fully conform to SPARC V9 architecture, achieve 2GHz + CPU frequency and 64 bit operation for very high performance. These high-density chips, contain around 400 million transistors, enabling rich performance and solid reliability equal to that of the very best Fujitsu mainframe processors. Fine grained semi-conductor process technology (90 nanometer), developed in Fujitsu's own semi-conductor department, enables the highest-density of logic circuits and the overall excellent performance of the SPARC64 V processor.
PRIMEPOWER performance can be flexibly increased and tuned in real time. Activating or deactivating partitions according to your workload changes and the addition of resources can occur at any time. PRIMEPOWER also enables you to streamline previously complicated information systems and shrink your system management costs. In this PRIMEPOWER enables you to dynamically allot hardware resources, using a combination of partitioning and Dynamic Reconfiguration features.
Solaris global standard OS chosen
The International standard UNIX OS, Solaris Operating System, is chosen as the operating environment on PRIMEPOWER. Solaris on PRIMEPOOWER operates exactly the same way as Solaris on Sun Microsystems's UNIX server hardware. This ensures that there is only ONE Solaris for all applications and business solutions.
