High Throughput UltraSPARC T1 processor
UltraSPARC T1 achieves both high processor throughput and low power consumption.This processor suits server applications,
especially those with high multithreading characteristics.
Multi-core, multi-thread and high speed crossbar technologies enable high processor performance.
UltraSPARC T1 with 8 cores per CPU chip and 4 threads per core incorporates 32 threads executable in parallel. High speed memory access is achieved by 3MB level2 cache connected to each core by a 134GB/s (max.) crossbar. UltraSPARC T1 has excellent low power consumption (79W) and a high processor density of 8 cores and 32 threads on single CPU chip.

High Performance Technologies
Multi-core
Excellent CPU chip performance is provided by incorporating multiple CPU cores on a singe CPU chip. UltraSPARC T1 has max. 8 cores per CPU chip and provides much improved multi-threading and parallel processing performance from 32 simultaneous threads.
Multi-threading
Multi-thread technology enables each single CPU core to run in parallel.
UltraSPARC T1 has 4 threads per core that run in parallel with threads switched by the same CPU clock.

In single thread processors, instruction execution suspends during memory access and resumes after data read action is completed.
In UltraSPARC T1 threads are switched in turn by the same core clock. On memory access, the relevant thread is suspended and another thread is executed. This multi-thread function shrinks core waiting time enabling efficient processing.
