SPARC Enterprise Sets Leading Computing Performance Benchmarks

11th May 2007

SPARC Enterprise has proved it is the platform best suited to major commercial application performance. In the SAP Application Sales and Distribution (SD) 2-tier benchmark, SPARC Enterprise recorded 7,300 benchmark users – a new record for the mark, for systems with 32cores.*
*Certified on April 17th, 2007 – with SAP ERP 2005, Oracle Database 10g on a system comprised of Solaris 10 OS & SPARC Enterprise M8000.

This represents a major performance improvement over previous PRIMEPOWER records. Comparison of SAP SD 2-tier benchmark results for SPARC Enterprise M8000 and PRIMEPOWER1500 show a performance improvement of 39%.

SPARC Enterprise has also shown its strong competitiveness. Comparison of SAP SD 2-tier two benchmark results for SPARC Enterprise M8000 and HP Integrity Superdome show around a 30% benchmark superiority over the HP Integrity system.

SPARC Enterprise is also winning R&D benchmark records.

  • In the SPEC OMPL2001 benchmark, for large scale concurrent applications:
              SPARC Enterprise M9000 took the top spot with 1,148,234.
  • In the Linpack benchmark, for floating point calculations:
              SPARC Enterprise recorded the No. 1 record with 1032.0 GFLOP/s.
  • In the STREAM benchmark, for sustained memory bandwidth:
              SPARC Enterprise M9000 recorded an outstanding 227059.0 M Bytes/sec (TRIAD) (*)
              * M Bytes/sec : 106 Bytes/sec
