Benefits of PRIMEQUEST

High flexibility and scalability in an open server, outstanding performance and reliability, secured investment in existing assets.

Fujitsu believes that customers require enterprise systems to be a combination of effective investment, reliability and possibilities for the future. Although incremental investments and simple improvements to existing systems can show benefits in the short term, this is unlikely to be the best solution for companies growing their business in the longer term

This is why Fujitsu has developed PRIMEQUEST. PRIMEQUEST is an epoch-making server platform. It combines the standards based cost advantages of open systems with the high reliability technology of the world’s most sophisticated systems. As a major manufacturer of highly reliable UNIX, IA and mainframe servers, Fujitsu is confident that these fully redundant and autonomously managed, high-end Linux and Windows platforms are an ideal choice for enterprise computing into the future. With PRIMEQUEST you can standardize your computing environment across all levels of the organization.

Server Consolidation

Common to many companies, major parts of the business often operate autonomously. Cooperation of a sort obviously exists, although this is often complicated by different equipment replacement cycles and administration policies. This can be further exacerbated by the proliferation of different operating systems and equipment architectures. Consolidation of disparate systems onto a highly flexible, standard and reliable platform like PRIMEQUEST provides an optimal solution for business system consolidation and improved operational efficiency.

PRIMEQUEST can solve these problems. Its flexible and scalable operation allows it to provide the platform consolidation needed to improve reliability, simplify the infrastructure and reduce management costs. This in turn enables the longer term and coordinated business planning necessary to confidently address future business change.

Example: Branch office banking system of a major bank

Business Critical 5 Nines

With system upgrades, many customers have concerns and even anxiety about future sustainability. What is the best way to use existing assets, what are the merit of just simply improving the current system and what new platforms and operating systems is the best selection? It is Fujitsu's mission to listen carefully to each customer's requirements and then propose the most suitable solution, taking into consideration factors such as, business work practices, investment effect, and the needs for performance and system migration.

The openness, high performance, reliability and scalability of PRIMEQUEST make it a convincing choice. PRIMEQUEST also supports Linux, Windows and both IA-32 and IPF applications. This makes it possible to utilize many existing assets. 99.99% system availability rate is assured by the standard features. Plus by using System Mirror and with clustering, PRIMEQUEST can provide even higher levels of reliability and availability required by mission critical systems.

High Performance Computing

High performance computing (HPC) is no longer confined to the halls of academia and pure scientific research. It has emerged into the general marketplace, and is spreading into financial analysis, business intelligence, and banking. While there is still heavy demand for floating-point intensive servers, particularly in Government and scientific research, it is the arena of financial markets that is providing the largest growth.

HPC has gained a reputation for being optimally hosted on hundreds, if not thousands, of small servers that cooperatively work together, each dedicated to a small piece of the overall problem. This is indeed appropriate for many classes of HPC application, weather analysis and prediction being a good example. Other classes of HPC application, however, do not lend themselves well to this deployment model. The research applications that must process very large streams of data, i.e., the "big pipe" model, need a powerful and robust multiprocessor server that can handle both the input stream and the application threads that process the data.

It is to this latter market that PRIMEQUEST servers will provide an excellent match, providing high I/O bandwidth and considerable processing power in a compact multiprocessor design.
