Online Transaction Processing

Traditional OLTP systems have a database on a mainframe system communicating with the user via a "dumb" terminal. PC systems are not "dumb", though they can emulate a terminal if necessary.
However users prefer more attractive and easier-to-use GUI screen facilities. PowerAIM allows an existing OLTP application to interface to the user via GUI screens and the distribution of application logic across the network. GUI applications may be developed on the PC using PowerCOBOL85 or other commonly used application development environment.
Increasingly organisations are making data available to staff via an intranet. A standard web browser is used to access the information. Existing AIM OLTP applications may be interfaced to a web server, and hence available to users from a web browser, by using the NETSTAGE Internet WWW Gateway.
