Compact size server with World’s Smallest Footprint PRIMERGY TX120
- World’s Highest Standard in Quietness and Power Saving -
Fujitsu has launched to the global market PRIMERGY TX120, the world’s smallest footprint server with unprecedented whisper-quiet
operation and outstanding power saving.
The 2.5 inch SAS hard disk drives (HDD), standard remote service function and enhanced Fujitsu engineering give PRIMERGY TX120
the toughness essential to servers. It also features the world’s smallest footprint (395cm2), about the same as a slim tower desktop PC.
Cooling is based on the ‘heat-pipe’ cooling method used in current quiet servers. The new ‘straight-line cooling’ method more
efficiently reduces heat in CPU and chassis, further reducing fan operation. Adoption of these advanced cooling technologies
means the noise level is below 32 decibels (dB) and achieves the world’s best mark in quietness. With power consumption at
just 175Watts, even fully equipped, it also contributes to reduceding TCO. This new power efficiency is supported by the latest
low power Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor and 2.5 inch SAS HDD.
Able to be installed in office workspaces it is suitable for a wide range of distributed and SOHO applications including retail
in-store and back office servers and small office application servers.
Background to the Introduction of TX120
The need to install servers in office workspaces, rather than in server rooms, continues to increase especially in the retail
and SOHO markets.
It is therefore a must that such servers not only are space saving but also ensure a comfortable working environment. Reduced
noise levels from improved fan management and the toughness to operate 24 hours are the ideal requirements. Fujitsu’s development
of the ultra-compact sized sever PRIMERGY TX120 reflects these requirements.
Target Customers
This server is targeted to solve the growing demands for installing small sized, low power consuming, and quiet servers in small or branch offices (such as accounting and consulting firms and clinics) and shops.

Product Features
- World’s smallest footprint
Successful in considerably reducing space and size, the 1/3 smaller footprint and 1/4 less volume, compared to the current 1way PRIMERGY TX150 S5, was achieved by downsizing the heat pipe and adopting 2.5 inch HDD. It has the world’s smallest footprint of 395 cm2.
The server can be operated vertically or horizontally due to use of the ‘heat-pipe’ cooling method. - Air-cooling technology that achieves world’s highest standard in quietness
A new ‘straight-line cooling’ method is introduced with this server and enhances cooling effectiveness. The air flows effectively through the server chassis from front to rear. Components that are sources of heat such as CPUs are aligned along the air flow. This is further enhanced by placing two small cooling fans back and front of the CPU (‘push-pull’ cooling fan method) to effectively cool it.
While ‘heat-pipe’ cooling methods also used in current quiet servers a new enhanced function controls the cooling fan’s rotational frequency by detecting the temperature within the server. This achieves a low noise level below 32dB while maintaining the correct air-cooling. 32dB is a noise level equivalent to a whispering voice. - World’s highest standard in low power consumption
Power consumption has been reduced down to 175Watts even in the fully equipped configuration by use of the latest low power consuming CPU, Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 3070 (2.66GHz) / 3040 (1.86GHz), and 2.5 inch SAS HDD. It is the world’s highest standard in energy saving servers. - High performance and high reliability to operate 24/7
Highly reliable 2.5 inch HDD RAID1 array configuration can be configured as standard, using the RAID1 function embedded in the SAS controller.
The remote service function is also standard equipment, enabling easy Web browser based remote server management for server reboot, powering on/off, and setting BIOS. These RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) functions help maintain the server’s stability and enable 24/7 operation required by servers. - Anti-theft security
The server is equipped with a front cover key lock and a security slot for attaching the anti-theft lock. The server itself can be locked down in one place with the side cover locked at the same time by attaching the security wire to the security slot used for attaching the anti-theft lock.
