The sales agreement we have entered into this time, is mainly for Virtual Rescan (VRS), the mainstay product of Kofax Inc.

VRS instantaneously corrects paper skew that arises when scanning the document and the image with defects such as blurs because of coloring or shading, and extracts all the required information.
Thanks to this feature, the operator is free from the troublesome procedure of rescanning the defective image, and the efficiency in converting documents, forms, and slips to electronic data is significantly enhanced.

Overview of VRS (Virtual ReScan)

The progress in IT has increased demand to "digitize paper".

• Automatic Color Detection
  VRS automatically detects which portions of a document should be processed as black and white and which should remain color. Furthermore, VRS differentiates the front sides of documents from their reverse sides and processes then separately.
• Saturation Correction
  VRS examines both the front and reverse side of all scanned images, along with their background colors, to produce even-toned images every time.
• White background cropping / de-skew
  VRS is even capable of cropping and de-skewing images that have been scanned against white backgrounds.
• Auto-rotation (VRS straightens misaligned text )
  This feature detects if any images were skewed while being scanned and displays each image in its proper orientation.
• Blank page detection
  VRS automatically removes any blank pages.

1. Automatic brightness and contrast correction

• The "brightness" and "contrast" levels of the original are instantly analyzed with every scan.
• Using this analysis, the original is instantly and automatically corrected to "easy to view" levels of brightness and contrast.
• Manual correction is also possible.

2. Automatic original size clipping

• Original size is detected with every scan.
• Even when originals of differing size are mixed together, image data is accurately and automatically clipped.

3. Automatic skew correction

• Image straightness is detected automatically with every scan.
• Any skewing is instantly corrected.
• Because skewing is corrected from the grayscale (multiple values) image, the image is converted into a smooth clear picture.
  Image visibility and the precision of OCR and other character identification are both improved.
  

4. Image noise removal

• Noise such as the black spots that can form during image segmentation processing are automatically removed.
• All noise generated during segmentation processing of colored background areas is completely removed. By reducing this noise, image clarity is greatly improved.
• Noise reduction greatly compresses the file size of the image, making it easier to transfer images to the internet, etc.

5. Registration of settings files

• Settings for manual adjustments and original corrections can be saved as a file.
• By calling a settings file before scanning, users can enjoy high quality images every time with less work.

6. Edge fusing

• Text blurring and clipping that occurs in segmentation processing are analyzed.
• Destroyed data is automatically restored. The precision of OCR and other identification features is much improved.
