Network Solution to create new value dimension in Optical Node Convergence

FLASHWAVE 7500

From now on, not only capacity but its type and pattern of the traffic on network also diversify. The flexibility, the investment and employment effect which meet the diversity quickly is needed.

As an example of a new value axis, we introduce the example of application of the DWDM platform which realizes all cross-connect only by optical technology. The combination system of electric cross-connect and an optical interface was used in the conventional node. Although, when the scale of the node became large, a space, power consumption, and also employment expense also increased at the time of circuit composition change, and even flexibility was limited.

By introducing the technology of the wavelength selection switch, direct cross-connect becomes reality on an optical level, and power consumption and employment expense can be reduced dramatically. It is a remarkable example which realizes the value of continuing the existing network service and heightening the effect of investment and maintenance of carriers.

As a unified, scalable platform, the FLASHWAVE 7500 system supports four configurations that optimize cost and functionality across a wide range of applications:

The FLASHWAVE 7500 Fixed OADM configuration (32- or 40-channel)
The FLASHWAVE 7500 2D ROADM configuration (40-channel)
The FLASHWAVE 7500 WSS ROADM configuration scalable to 12-degree hub (40-channel)
The FLASHWAVE 7500 Extension Shelf configuration (40-channel)

The platform's tunable Optical Line Cards (OLCs) and software are common across every FLASHWAVE 7500 configuration. This approach helps reduce engineering, training, installation and sparing costs.

FLASHWAVE 7500 FOADM

FLASHWAVE 7500 FOADM

A full-function, low-cost, compact platform for mid-size applications, the FLASHWAVE 7500 Fixed OADM system is ideal for space-constrained metro central offices (COs). A single shelf supports up to six line cards, plus common operation and transmission cards in a FOADM or point-to-point configuration. Subsequent addition of modular optical switch units enables ROADM capabilities. OLC capacity is easily added without interrupting network operation.

FLASHWAVE 7500 2D ROADM

FLASHWAVE 7500 2D ROADM

An economical choice for locations needing just two degrees of network connectivity, the FLASHWAVE 7500 2D ROADM configuration can be deployed in a single-ring topology. The system provides full add/drop and pass-through capabilities in protected or unprotected point-to-point and linear and ring topology. By combining ROADM and multiplexer functionality into a dedicated card, the platform makes slots available for optical line interfaces and revenue-generating service interfaces.

FLASHWAVE 7500 WSS ROADM

FLASHWAVE 7500 WSS ROADM

The FLASHWAVE 7500 Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) ROADM configuration provides a powerful and cost-effective deployment solution for metro, regional and long-haul networks. The system dramatically reduces both capital outlay and operational expenses by fully automating zero-impact nodal upgrade capability. Configurations range from simple ROADM to multidegree hub with fast service delivery and transparent interoperability between rings and mesh networks.

FLASHWAVE 7500 Extension Shelf

FLASHWAVE 7500 Extension Shelf

The FLASHWAVE 7500 Extension Shelf is a cost-optimized, OLC-only configuration that delivers high-capacity optical services to customer premises where OADM infrastructure is not needed. The system generates additional reductions in operational expenses by consolidating the complete DWDM infrastructure, from the customer to the network core, onto a single unified platform.
