PRIMECLUSTER Overview

Maximizing Uptime in Virtual Environments

Inter-working with SPARC Enterprise virtualization technologies, PRIMECLUSTER can maximize uptime and minimize the effects of failures. For instance, it can recover failed applications in Solaris Containers while all other operational processes remain running.

Maximized uptime in Solaris Container environments

Following an application or OS failure, the relevant Non-Global Zones can recover those operations by a switch-over to a stand-by Zone. (see Figure 1). To do this, PRIMECLUSTER needs to be installed in all Non-Global Zones.

In addition, a Global Zone failure can be recovered by switch-over to a stand-by Zone. To do this, PRIMECLUSTER needs to be installed in the Global Zone.

Maximized uptime in Oracle VM Environments

With Oracle VM Server for SPARC Environment, PRIMECLUSTER can recover failed Domain operations while other Domains continue to operate. For example, a failed Guest Domain can be switched over to another Domain in standby mode. In addition the Control Domain, on failure, can restart its operations.

To recover operations in a Guest Domain or Control Domain, on failure, PRIMECLUSTER needs to be installed in the Control Domain.
