Kawasaki, August 18, 2009 – Fujitsu Optical Components Limited and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. today announced to jointly develop 40Gbps and 100Gbps integrated receivers. 40Gbps receivers will be used in 40Gbps optical networks whose deployment is growing constantly on a global scale; 100Gbps receivers will be used for next-generation 100Gbps optical networks. Furukawa Electric is responsible for developing PLC technology which effectively reduces the size of integrated receivers. Fujitsu Optical Components is responsible for developing and commercializing the receiver utilizing integrated module technologies for PLC, high-speed photodiodes, and amplifier.

Kawasaki , August 11, 2009 – Fujitsu Optical Components Limited today announced the development of the world's most energy-efficient (maximum 0.7W), compact Integrated DPSK Receiver with a delay line interferometer and a balanced receiver. The product is designed for use in 40Gbps transponders for 40Gbps optical networks, which are being widely adopted by telecommunications carriers worldwide. Sales of the receiver will begin October 1st, 2009.

Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, June 11, 2009 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced the development of the world's first impulse radio-based high-capacity wireless transmission equipment using millimeter-band transmissions in the 70-100 gigahertz (70-100 GHz) range band, resulting in throughput exceeding 10 gigabits-per-second (10 Gbps). This technology dispenses with the oscillators and other components that have been required in conventional wireless transmission technologies, enabling compact and inexpensive millimeter-band transmission equipment. The new technology is suitable as an alternative to fiber-optic trunk lines in regions where those lines would be difficult to lay, as a way to bridge the digital divide, and can also be used for ultra-fast wireless LANs.
