Fujitsu to Spin Off Photonics Business in Reorganization

Tokyo, May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited announced today that it will spin off, through a simple absorption-type separation, its photonics manufacturing division and photonics product development division for the Japanese market and transfer the divisions to its wholly owned subsidiary, Fujitsu Access Limited, as of July 1, 2008. The decision was made at a meeting of the Board of Directors today.

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Wins Substantial BT Re-Manufacturing Contracts in Ireland

Birmingham, May 7, 2008 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited announces that its Antrim-based specialist re-manufacturing and repair division, Fujitsu Telecommunications Ireland (FTI), has recently won two major re-manufacturing contracts with a combined value of nearly GB £2.5 million. BT Convergent Solutions has awarded FTI a significant two-year contract for re-manufacturing and component-level repair services. Underlining re-manufacturing’s value as a waste-reduction strategy, the contract will involve the processing of approximately 1500 products per month, and spans around one hundred business-telephone product lines, including legacy products as well as a growing number of IP-based systems. In addition, FTI has also won a two-year contract to re-manufacture and repair BT’s installed base of Sovereign SM1 payphones throughout the UK, with 120 units refurbished in the first month.

Fujitsu to Reorganize Photonics Business

Tokyo, April 28, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited and subsidiary Fujitsu Access Limited announced today that they plan to merge and reorganize their photonic systems businesses in July in order to strengthen their photonics systems development, manufacturing and sales operations for the Japanese market. The plan was approved today at a meeting of Fujitsu Limited's Board of Directors.

Fujitsu Collaborates with Indiana University on Optical Communications Research

Richardson, TX, April 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Network Communications, a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, announced today that they are successfully collaborating with Indiana University (IU) on breakthrough research about the effects that Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) can have on specific wavelengths traveling at 40 Gbps or more. This collaboration experience between two leading research entities, which was facilitated by their active involvement with Internet2, will be the model for future research networking experiments between Fujitsu and other Research & Education (R&E) institutions.

Fujitsu Completes Upgrade of Japan-US Cable Network

Tokyo, March 27, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has successfully completed an upgrade of the Japan-US Cable Network, a submarine fiber-optic cable system spanning the Pacific Ocean. Fujitsu's state-of-the-art technology allows the network to carry a capacity of more than 1.28 terabits per second (Tbps), doubling the original design capacity of 640 gigabits per second (Gbps) to support growing demand for high-speed, high-capacity trans-Pacific communications.

Fujitsu and Pacific Crossing Announce Successful Upgrade of Trans-Pacific Fiber Optic Network

Fujitsu and HHI Achieve Optical Amplitude Noise Reduction Using Ultra High-Speed Optical Switch

Kawasaki, Japan and Berlin, March 6, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institut(HHI) today announced the development of an ultra high-speed optical switch that uses nonlinear optical fiber to reduce optical amplitude noise, which degrades the quality of optical signals when they are transmitted. Employing this technology, suppression of optical amplitude noise using a 107 gigabit per second (Gbps) phase modulated ultra high-speed signal was successfully verified. In addition, in a data transmission test across 320 km, it was verified that data quality after transmission could be received with roughly the equivalent of its quality prior to transmission.

Fujitsu Helps Capacity Upgrade Between Asia and Europe with Sea-Me-We 4

Tokyo, March 5, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it will upgrade the capacity of the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe (SEA-ME-WE) 4 submarine cable network connecting numerous countries between Singapore and France. With completion scheduled in 2009, this multi-million dollar second upgrade project will further triple the existing trunk capacity of the system, enabling SEA-ME-WE 4 to support the increased broadband traffic requirements along the route.

Fujitsu to Install SDH Backbone in €Multi-Million North African Project

Birmingham, February 27, 2008 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited announces that it has been awarded a €multi-million contract to modernise an existing radio backbone for a North African customer. Scheduled for completion in 2009-2010, the first phase involves the installation of a turnkey SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) microwave network. Fujitsu will be acting as the prime contractor, partnering with the French company, Twist.

Tokyo, February 6, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited announced today the development of the BroadOne™ WX series of mobile WiMAX base stations. The BroadOne WX300, an outdoor macrocell base station, is light, energy-efficient, and - as the smallest in its class - occupies less space, which makes it economical to deploy. The BroadOne WX300 will be available globally beginning in the second quarter of 2008 (April-June).

Fujitsu and Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry to Establish Joint Venture for WiMAX Application Platforms

Tokyo and Taipei, December 4, 2007 – Fujitsu Limited and the Institute for Information Industry (III) of Taiwan, a non-governmental organization jointly sponsored by the Taiwan government and prominent private enterprises, today announced their agreement to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU), to establish a new company in Taiwan that will develop application platforms and provide engineering support based on WiMAX technology from Fujitsu and III. Through the joint venture, scheduled to be established in March 2008, it is anticipated that Fujitsu and III will significantly contribute to the development of the WiMAX industry in Taiwan.

Fujitsu Wins Upgrade Contract to Expand PC-1 Network Capacity
