Tokyo, May 14, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that Nanya Technology Corporation Japan has withdrawn its appeal against a Tokyo District Court ruling which found that Nanya Technology infringes a Fujitsu patent.

Fujitsu Reports Fiscal 2007 Financial Results

Tokyo, May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited, a leading provider of IT-based business solutions for the global marketplace, today reported a consolidated operating income of 204.9 billion yen (US$2,049 million) for fiscal 2007 (April 1, 2007 – March 31, 2008), an increase of 12.6% over the previous year. The increase in operating income was primarily attributable to sharply higher sales of solutions/SI, servers, PCs and mobile phones as well as the success of cost control initiatives throughout the Fujitsu Group.

Fujitsu Laboratories Develops Industry's First Image-Sensing Technology for Thorough Motion Path Tracking of Individuals

Kawasaki, Japan, May 13, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced today, as an industry first, the development of a new image-sensing technology that can thoroughly and accurately track - without blind spots - the motion paths of multiple individuals as they move while indoor. By employing ceiling-mounted multiple compact surveillance cameras to monitor designated areas, and enabling automatic and accurate extraction of the motion paths of individuals shown in images from those cameras, this technology has potential for practical use in a wide variety of applications, including surveillance of suspicious behavior, observation of consumer purchasing behavior as retail marketing, and task analysis as part of visualization of work efficiencies.

Fujitsu Laboratories Develops Technology for Quick and Accurate Estimation of Rate of Soft Errors in Advanced Semiconductors

Kawasaki, Japan, April 30, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced that, in collaboration with the Hawaii Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, an inter-university research institute that is part of Japan's National Institute of Natural Sciences, the development of a technique for quick and accurate field measurement of the rate of "soft errors", which are erroneous operations that occur in advanced semiconductors and are caused by neutrons from a type of cosmic ray.

Fujitsu Develops Technology Enabling Real-time Multiple-Point Temperature Measurement

Kawasaki, Japan, April 4, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced today the development of a new technology, based on optical fibers, that enables accurate and real-time temperature distribution measurement in large datacenters which have multiple heat sources. Through a single optical fiber, this technology makes it possible to measure simultaneously the temperature of over 10,000 areas in a facility, thereby enabling visibility of temperature distribution in large datacenters. Combining this technology with an air conditioning control system will enable fine-tune air conditioning, allowing for more energy-efficient large-scale data centers.

Fujitsu and HHI Achieve Optical Amplitude Noise Reduction Using Ultra High-Speed Optical Switch

Kawasaki, Japan and Berlin, March 6, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institut(HHI) today announced the development of an ultra high-speed optical switch that uses nonlinear optical fiber to reduce optical amplitude noise, which degrades the quality of optical signals when they are transmitted. Employing this technology, suppression of optical amplitude noise using a 107 gigabit per second (Gbps) phase modulated ultra high-speed signal was successfully verified. In addition, in a data transmission test across 320 km, it was verified that data quality after transmission could be received with roughly the equivalent of its quality prior to transmission.

Fujitsu Becomes First in Japan to Attain BS25999 Certification in Business Continuity Management System

Tokyo, April 11, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu FSAS Inc. today announced that their maintenance services business for customer IT infrastructure attained BS25999 certification, the British Standard certification for business continuity management system, on April 8, becoming the first organization in Japan to do so. This achievement was the result of the consulting support the companies received from Fujitsu Research Institute, followed by an independent evaluation that found the companies' world-class business continuity management system to be in full compliance with the certification standard.

Fujitsu to Spin Off Photonics Business in Reorganization

Tokyo, May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited announced today that it will spin off, through a simple absorption-type separation, its photonics manufacturing division and photonics product development division for the Japanese market and transfer the divisions to its wholly owned subsidiary, Fujitsu Access Limited, as of July 1, 2008. The decision was made at a meeting of the Board of Directors today.

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Wins Substantial BT Re-Manufacturing Contracts in Ireland

Birmingham, May 7, 2008 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited announces that its Antrim-based specialist re-manufacturing and repair division, Fujitsu Telecommunications Ireland (FTI), has recently won two major re-manufacturing contracts with a combined value of nearly GB £2.5 million. BT Convergent Solutions has awarded FTI a significant two-year contract for re-manufacturing and component-level repair services. Underlining re-manufacturing’s value as a waste-reduction strategy, the contract will involve the processing of approximately 1500 products per month, and spans around one hundred business-telephone product lines, including legacy products as well as a growing number of IP-based systems. In addition, FTI has also won a two-year contract to re-manufacture and repair BT’s installed base of Sovereign SM1 payphones throughout the UK, with 120 units refurbished in the first month.

Fujitsu to Reorganize Photonics Business

Tokyo, March 27, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has successfully completed an upgrade of the Japan-US Cable Network, a submarine fiber-optic cable system spanning the Pacific Ocean. Fujitsu's state-of-the-art technology allows the network to carry a capacity of more than 1.28 terabits per second (Tbps), doubling the original design capacity of 640 gigabits per second (Gbps) to support growing demand for high-speed, high-capacity trans-Pacific communications.

Fujitsu to Launch ARM1176 Prototyping Kit

Tokyo, May 8, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) today announced that it will launch an ARM1176 prototyping kit, designed to shorten the development lead time for customers using FML's ASIC and COT services to develop system LSIs that include the ARM1176JZF-S™, ARM926EJ-S™, or ARM946E-S™ processor cores. The new prototyping kit will include an evaluation board loaded with chips for trying out the ARM1176JZF-S processor, a FPGA reference design, and sample programs. FML's prototyping kit will enable customers to debug their logic circuits and develop device drivers before fabrication of their chips, resulting in a faster system-LSI design process. The new kit will be available from July 2008, and will be exhibited at the 11th Embedded Systems Expo, to be held from May 14 to 16, 2008 at Tokyo Big Sight.
