London, October 31, 2005 – Web shoppers who consider themselves more secure are beginning to demand better rates from banks as a reward, a survey by consumer research group YouGov has found. Almost half (44%) say that banks should reward them for being careful with their personal security online, and a third (33%) think that "security slackers" who are careless with passwords and card details should be penalised by banks.

Kawasaki, Japan, October 25, 2005 – Fujitsu Laboratories, Ltd. today announced that its palm vein authentication technology has won The Wall Street Journal's 2005 Technology Innovation Award, for Security in Networks. Fujitsu's palm vein authentication technology is a biometric technology that recognizes the unique vein pattern of a person's palm, as a highly secure means of personal identification. This technology is extremely difficult to forge compared to other methods of biometric security, since palm vein patterns are internal to the body. Fujitsu's palm vein authentication technology is also hygienic, as the scanning is contactless, thereby requiring no direct surface contact with the scanning device even when used in public applications. Fujitsu has commercialized this technology, which thus far has been implemented in bank ATMs, for room entry access in hospitals and residential condominiums, and for access to personal records and transcripts at academic institutions.

London, September 7, 2005 – After a detailed review, Fujitsu and NHS Connecting for Health signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2005 agreeing on the use of Cerner Millennium® software for the NHS Care Records Service in the Southern Cluster, subject to a final contract. The contract signing finalises this agreement. Work on the deployment of Cerner systems had commenced immediately in June and has progressed with 17 trusts in the Southern Cluster while the contract negotiations continued. The first systems will go live at around the turn of the year.

With this Patja agreement Fujitsu takes over the maintenance of about 400 Finpro's workstations and 30 servers around the world as well as the global HelpDesk service.
