Fujitsu and Nissin Healthcare Food Service Build Cloud-Based System for Home Food Delivery Service

Tokyo, May 24, 2012 – Fujitsu today announced that it has worked with Nissin Healthcare Food Service Co., Ltd. to build a cloud-based food delivery system for the company's Shokutakubin service, which delivers boxed meals to the homes of subscribers. The system, which went into operation in April, offers nutritious meals safely and comfortably.

Fujitsu Reports Fiscal 2011 Full-Year Financial Results

Tokyo, April 27, 2012 – Fujitsu today reported consolidated net income of 42.7 billion yen (US$521 million) for fiscal 2011 (April 1, 2011 – March 31, 2012). This was 7.7 billion yen higher than consolidated projections revised and announced in January 2012. Operating income also topped projections, by 5.3 billion yen, thanks to cost cutting measures and streamlining efforts.

Fujitsu Semiconductor to Transfer Ownership of Iwate Plant to DENSO Corporation

Yokohama, April 27, 2012 – DENSO Corporation and Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited have signed an agreement stating Fujitsu Semiconductor will transfer ownership of its Iwate Plant, which is located in Iwate, Japan, to DENSO. The transition of ownership, which consists of the land, building, equipment and employees, will be completed on Oct. 1, 2012. After this time, the plant will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of DENSO.

Tokyo, April 19, 2012 – Tokyo Denki University (TDU), Fujitsu, and VMware, K.K. today announced that the three organizations worked together to build a virtual desktop environment for TDU that is hosted at Fujitsu's Datacenter. The project involved consolidating 29 educational research system servers that had been spread across Tokyo Denki University's three campuses of Tokyo Senju (relocated from Tokyo Kanda as of April 2012), Saitama Hatoyama, and Chiba New Town, into seven servers at Fujitsu's Datacenter, and building a virtual desktop environment for approximately 1,000 terminals that can use various applications for learning and research.

Singapore, April 16, 2012 – Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd (FSAL) today introduced the MB86L13A LTE (FDD and TDD) optimized transceiver. The new transceiver has been developed for LTE-only applications and features the architecture pioneered by Fujitsu that eliminates the need for external low noise amplifiers (LNAs) and inter-stage surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters. China, Guangdong, Nanhai, April 11, 2012 – Fujitsu today announced the launch of its first data centre in China, the Fujitsu South China Data Centre. Located in the Guangdong High-Tech Service Zone for Financial Institutions, it is South China's first Tier 3 plus data centre. Tokyo, April 10, 2012 – Fujitsu and the University of Aizu today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaborations to provide support for medium- to long-term rebuilding efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Tokyo, April 6, 2012 – Fujitsu today announced that its STYLISTIC Q550/C tablet PCs are being used at three junior high schools in Japan – Shouei Junior High School (approx. 300 students) in Shinchi Town, Fukushima Prefecture, Joto Junior High School (approx. 300 students) in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, and Saga Prefectural Takeo Seiryo Junior High School (approx. 500 students) in Saga Prefecture. Fujitsu Converts Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications into a Wholly Owned Subsidiary

Fujitsu Digitizes Sticky-Note Brainstorming with Proprietary Digital Pen Technology

Kawasaki, Japan, March 26, 2012 – Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced that it has developed an industry-first technology supporting the digitization of results from sticky-note brainstorming sessions by utilizing a digital pen. Sticky-note brainstorming is becoming an essential part of business analysis and idea generation, and is widely viewed as a necessary step in concept-building and the exchange of ideas within many enterprises and organizations. Until now, digitally recording the arrangement and content of sticky-notes for sharing and record-keeping had to be done manually, requiring photographs to be taken of groupings, which took up considerable man-hours. Now however, Fujitsu Laboratories has developed a technology that, by utilizing a digital pen in conjunction with proprietary image processing technology, supports the digitization of individual sticky-note placement and contents from captured images of groupings. This new technology will assist in recalling the brainstorming session and simplifying searches at a later date, boosting usefulness of those sessions, while successfully reducing man-hours by more than 80% compared with conventional manual methods.

Services that collect and employ huge volumes of real-world data in the cloud—such as the location and health status of people and the status of different operations—are now expanding, and the increase in communications volumes associated with collecting this data poses a huge challenge. To address this problem, Fujitsu Laboratories has developed an algorithm that takes a portion of the data that would otherwise be processed in the cloud and instead performs optimized distributed arrangement in a gateway. Using this technology, it is possible to efficiently collect in the cloud only the data required from the big data streams being processed through the gateway, enabling a 99% reduction in transmission traffic volumes.

Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, and Beijing, China, March 9, 2012 – Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu Laboratories Limited and Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. of China today announced the development of a digital signal processing algorithm to compensate for waveform distortion in long-haul transmission systems of over several hundreds of kilometers. This, in turn, enables a roughly twenty-fold improvement in the compensation ability per circuit size compared to typical existing technology, representing a considerable improvement of approximately three times compared to circuits previously developed by Fujitsu. As a result, the new technology has succeeded in extending the long-haul operating range of optical signals. By reducing the energy consumption of compensation circuits by two-thirds, the new technology also helps cut energy consumption throughout an entire network.

Kanagawa and Tokyo Japan, January 19, 2012 – QD Laser, Inc., the Institute for Nano Quantum Information Electronics, the University of Tokyo, and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced the successful development of a high-power 532 nm-wavelength compact green laser module with high efficiency and high-speed modulation capability. Combining the near-infrared high-power single-mode laser based on proprietary semiconductor DFB (Distributed feedback) laser technology with wavelength conversion technology realizes a compact laser module of about 0.5 cc that can provide high output power. An evaluation of the prototype module confirmed green light output of greater than 100 mW under CW (Continuous wave) conditions and high-speed modulation of more than 100 MHz. This module shows promise for a wide range of applications such as with florescence microscopes or spectral analysis in life science or biomedical applications, and precise measurements as well as nondestructive inspections in industry. Furthermore, it is also expected to apply to future ultra-compact projectors in consumer electronics. QD Laser is planning to start sample shipments of the new product, QLD0593-P50, with > 50 mW output power from the 2nd quarter of 2012 and to start mass-production from the 4th quarter.

The new solution provides a SaaS-based system for promoters to sell tickets directly through their own websites, while at the same time making it possible to accept payments and issue tickets at 7-Eleven stores throughout Japan. In contrast to the conventional method of selling tickets through Playguide, a popular ticket purchasing system in Japan, the new solution allows users to handle ticket reservations, sales, and management on their own in real time. As a result, promoters can efficiently sell tickets while incurring lower costs.

Sales of the new product, geared toward mobile communications providers, will start today. Fujitsu Group's First Geothermal Heat Extraction System Deployed at Nagano Plant

Tokyo, January 4, 2012 – Fujitsu today announced the first deployment within the Fujitsu Group of a geothermal heat extraction system at its Nagano Plant. The new system will begin operations starting in January 2012.
