Tokyo, September 29, 2009 – Tokyo, September 29, 2009 - QD Laser, Inc., today announced that it has developed, in collaboration with Professor Yasuhiko Arakawa of the University of Tokyo’s Institute for Nano Quantum Information Electronics, the world’s first green laser employing quantum dot semiconductor crystals. (quantum dot green laser) Boasting a compact 5.6mm diameter, as well as the capability of low power consumption by operating at up to 60°C without the need for cooling, the quantum dot green laser is optimal for use in mobile projectors that can be mounted on mobile phones or laptop PCs. QD Laser will begin shipping samples of the laser source module from December 2009, and commercialize it in 2010.

Tokyo, September 28, 2009 – Fujitsu today announced that it has codeveloped a sensing technology that accurately measures the body movements of a person carrying a sensor-equipped mobile phone. The technology was developed in collaboration with Mr. Kajiro Watanabe, the president of Sensing Control Lab Co., Ltd. and a professor at Hosei University in Japan. The first commercialization of this technology, "ETGA Swing Lesson", is a mobile phone application that analyzes golf swings under the guidance of professional golfer Mr. Tadashi Ezure.

Fujitsu recently began providing the outsourcing services from a datacenter in Japan.

Tokyo, September 14, 2009 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited today announced the first product in its entry into the mobile phone RF transceiver market, in launching a RF transceiver IC for mobile phones supporting 2G GSM/GPS/EDGE and 3G UMTS/HSPA protocols, that includes a 3G DigRF interface on a single chip. The compact new transceiver IC also eliminates the need for external SAW filters and low-noise amplifiers (LNA), and enables mobile phone manufacturers to reduce component count, board space and bill of materials. Additionally, a new simplified programming model helps to significantly reduce development time and simplify integration of the RF into a radio platform. Samples of the MB86L01A transceiver IC are available from today.

Munich/Berlin, September 4, 2009 – At this year's IFA in Berlin, Fujitsu presents two convertible notebooks with multiple touch functions for the first time. The two models LIFEBOOK T4310 and T4410 support the Windows 7 Touch technology and thus allow intuitive data input – either with a multifunctional pen or finger movement – and handwriting recognition. With the rotatable display the notebook turns into a flexible tablet PC. An additional battery helps to continue working, when an electricity socket is not accessible. The two notebook models have different designs and are planned to be available in EMEA in the fourth quarter of this year. The LIFEBOOK T4410 also offers a TPM module and a port replicator.
