5 January 2009 Germany: A Green New Year: Fujitsu Siemens Computers Already Meets the New EU Law Requirements for Standby Power Consumption
Munich, January 5, 2009 – The majority of Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ professional PCs already meet the new EU directive regarding low standby power consumption. The regulation went into effect on January 5, 2009 with a one year transitional period. The law states that as of January 5, 2010, all electrical and electronic office as well as household equipment must prove that they use less than 1 Watt on standby power. Thanks to Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ innovative "Low Power Soft Off” function, PCs in the ESPRIMO C/E/P5730 and ESPRIMO E/P7935 series as well as the CELSIUS W370 workstation are already well below this value today. Around 90 percent of these professional PCs are even below 0.5 Watt – a rate that is not required by law until 2013.
