27 November 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Launches SD Multi-Decoder LSI Supporting MPEG-2 & H.264
Tokyo, November 27, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited today announced the launch of multi-decoder LSI chips that support decoding of MPEG-2(1) and H.264(2) video compression formats for Standard Definition (SD) video, in particular for SD digital broadcasts in Russia, eastern Europe and China. Sample shipments of the new MB86H01 series will start from December 1, 2008.

Munich, November 20, 2008 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers presents for the first time a notebook from its LIFEBOOK series that uses the security solutions SystemTrack and DataProtect. These solutions are based on a new anti-theft protection solution that features technology by Intel® and Computrace®. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is one of only two manufacturers in EMEA who can already offer such innovation in its current notebook range. The complex anti-theft protection will be available as an option in the ESPRIMO Mobile models in the business line and in the LIFEBOOK T5010 and LIFEBOOK E8420. By integrating this security solution the IT infrastructure provider meets the increasing requirements of its customers for effective security concepts and company data protection. Anti-theft protection has two main functions: tracking stolen or lost hardware and the option of saving or, if necessary, deleting data in the system's hard disk via a centrally operated remote control. London, November 19, 2008 – Fujitsu Europe Limited today announced the availability of its 3.5-inch Parallel-SCSI drives until the end of 2010. Despite the market’s anticipated production stop of 3.5-inch Parallel-SCSI drives by end of March 2009, Fujitsu continues its production and delivery of 3.5-inch Parallel-SCSI hard drives until the end of calendar year 2010. This extension applies to Fujitsu’s 3.5-inch HDD series MBA3-NC/NP with 15,000-RPM spindle speed, 73.5GB* to 300GB* storage capacities and U320-SCA 80-Pin (NC) as well as U320-LVD 68-Pin (NP) interfaces. These drives are designed for sophisticated high-end applications primarily in enterprise server and network system environments.

Kawasaki, Japan, November 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced today the development of a new video-processing technology that enables a complete wraparound view of a vehicle's perimeter in real time, to enhance the driver's field of view. The new driver assistance technology adapts to different driving situations, enabling the driver to peripherally view the entire surroundings of a vehicle, from the point of view and field of view that is most appropriate for each driving situation. Tokyo, November 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of two new series in its line of 2.5" enterprise hard disk drives (HDDs), the 10,025-rpm MBD2 RC series and 15,000-rpm MBE2 RC series, both of which provide standard support for the 6Gb/s SAS interface. The MBD2 RC series will be released in the first quarter of 2009 calendar year, and the MBE2 RC series will be available in the second quarter.

College Park, MD, November 10, 2008 – Engineers from the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), High-End Computer Networking (HECN) at NASA Goddard Flight Center (NASA/GSFC), Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) and Fujitsu Network Communications have successfully completed a live trial of 40 Gbps connections between the University of Maryland campus and facilities in McLean, Va. using routing and optical equipment from Juniper Networks and Fujitsu. While most of today’s fiber-optic transmission infrastructure is limited to 10 Gbps, widespread implementation of 40 Gbps technology in live networks could help provide the scale needed to support the proliferation of advanced services such as on-demand high-definition video and real-time collaboration across the Internet.

4 November 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Laboratories Develops C- to X- Ultra-Wideband Gallium-Nitride HEMT Power Amplifier Featuring High Output and Efficiency
Kawasaki, Japan, November 4, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced today the development of a high-performance power amplifier based on gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistors (HEMT), which as a hybrid amplifier - an amplifier in which the transistor and capacitor are each mounted on separate semiconductor package substrates - features the world's highest output performance in terms of power and efficiency in the C-band to X-band radio frequency bandwidths above 5GHz. This technology opens the potential for higher performance and functionality in broadband and radar communication systems, in particular for airplane radar systems and other instruments that use multiple frequencies, which could be accommodated by a single amplifier. Furthermore, in comparison with conventional power amplifiers that use gallium-arsenide (GaAs), the new ultra-wideband (UWB) GaN-HEMT-based amplifier features higher efficiency, thus enabling a reduction in the size of cooling equipment, which is anticipated to result in power amplifiers that are smaller and lighter.
