30 June 2008 US: Fujitsu Microelectronics Names Shinichi “James” Machida New President, Chief Executive Officer of Fujitsu Microelectronics America
Sunnyvale, CA, June 30, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) today announced that Shinichi “James” Machida has been named president and chief executive officer. Machida will be leaving his position as president of Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte. Ltd. (FMAL) in Singapore, and Fujitsu Microelectronics Pacific Asia Ltd. (FMP) in Hong Kong, and will arrive in the U.S. in August. He replaces Kazuyuki Kawauchi, who will return to Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) in Japan in September.

26 June 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Microelectronics Launches Low-Power Consumption 256Mbit FCRAM for Digital Consumer Electronics
Tokyo, June 26, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) announced today the development of a 256Mbit Consumer FCRAM product for digital consumer electronics, the MB81EDS256545. The new FCRAM product runs on low power consumption and is ideal for system-in-package (SiP) designs, with samples available from today. Key product features include a 64-bit I/O, low power DDR SDRAM interface that enables data transfer capabilities equivalent to two DDR2 SDRAMs with 16-bit I/O, while reducing power consumption by a maximum of approximately 1 watt (1W) (equivalent to approximately 70%), thus contributing to power savings for digital consumer electronics. The new product is ideal for consumer electronics products that require low power consumption, such as digital televisions and camcorders.

23 June 2008 China: Fujitsu Wins Major Server, Storage Order from China Mobile Communications
Shanghai, June 23, 2008 – Fujitsu (China) Holdings Co., Ltd. today announced that China Mobile Communications Corporation, the country's largest mobile phone carrier, has selected Fujitsu's SPARC Enterprise UNIX servers, ETERNUS storage equipment, and PRIMECLUSTER middleware for its core information system, which is to be deployed in all 31 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions in mainland China. 19 June 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Develops Millimeter-Band Transmitter Capable of Data Transmission Speeds Exceeding 10 Gbps
Kawasaki and Tokyo, Japan, June 19, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fujitsu Limited announced today, as a world's first, the development of a transmitter operating in the 70-100 GHz band using impulse radio that is capable of transmitting data at speeds of more than 10 gigabits per second. This new development eliminates the need for oscillators and other hardware that had been required for use of earlier millimeter-band transmitters, thus enabling a smaller millimeter-band transmitter. As a substitute for fiber-optic high-speed lines, the new transmitter could be used in wide range of applications geared to help bridge the digital divide, including for platform networks and short-range wireless LANs.

19 June 2008 Germany: Fujitsu Siemens Computers Announces BS2000/OSD Mainframe Featuring High-end x86 Technology from Intel
Munich/Cologne, June 19, 2008 – In future, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will be fitting high-end x86 technology from Intel in its entry-level and mid-range BS2000/OSD mainframes. The first SQ Business Servers are due to be shipped at year-end. Joseph Reger, CTO at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, sees the new systems as exceptionally economical and well-prepared for future developments. He stresses that the SQ series will have all the features that are typical of mainframes. In particular, he says, excellent transaction performance will make them ideal for use in banks and book entry systems. Fujitsu Siemens Computers also claims that the new series will be the first set of mainframes on which standard Linux and Windows applications will be able to run as guest systems alongside BS2000/OSD.
18 June 2008 US: Verizon Selects Fujitsu Packet Optical Networking Platform for Transport Infrastructure
LAS VEGAS, NV, June 18, 2008 – Fujitsu Network Communications, a leading supplier of innovative optical and wireless networking solutions, announced today that Verizon has selected the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE® 9500 platform for deployment as a result of the Verizon Packet OTP RFP process. The platform will be used to enhance the metro transport infrastructure within Verizon markets in the United States to support and consolidate SONET, Ethernet, and wavelength services traffic in a variety of applications. 17 June 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Laboratories Develops Low-power CMOS Technology For 32nm Generation
Kawasaki and Tokyo, June 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited today announced the development of low-power CMOS technology for 32nm-generation logic LSIs, which makes it possible to minimize the number of necessary manufacturing processes for LSIs, and without the need to utilize additional new materials. While minimizing rising costs associated with a rise in additional manufacturing processes, the newly developed technology can reduce power-supply voltage without causing a drop in operation speeds, and can lower operational power consumption by approximately 40% compared to technologies for 45nm-generation logic LSIs. It is anticipated that this new technology can be used for wide range of applications, such as for system LSIs for mobile devices which are becoming increasingly multi-functional, and microprocessors that are increasingly adopting multi-core configurations.
17 June 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Laboratories Develops Power Gating Technology to Enable Power Savings in System LSIs
Kawasaki and Tokyo, Japan, June 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Limited and Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited announced today, as an industry first, the development of circuit technology that can rapidly switch a power supply from off to on in less than one microsecond. This makes it possible to extend the "off" period - sleep time - of a chip as a means to reduce leakage current, enabling highly integrated LSI chips to consume less power. Details of this technology will be presented at the 2008 Symposium on VLSI Circuits, to be held from June 18 to June 20 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
17 June 2008 Germany: Fujitsu Siemens Computers Presents New Storage System for Data Center File Services Consolidation
Munich, June 17, 2008 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces the introduction of the CentricStor FS (File Services) system, developed specifically for organizations facing the need to store increasing amounts of unstructured data. CentricStor FS enables consolidation of file services: an efficient and reliable new approach to the increasing problem of dealing with unabated data growth. CentricStor FS provides nearly unlimited scalability, and in addition to extremely rapid response times and enormous throughput capabilities, features the highest levels of system availability. 16 June 2008 Japan: Fujitsu Microelectronics Launches Mobile WiMAX Chipsets for Mobile Devices
Tokyo, June 16, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) announced today a new mobile WiMAX chipset optimized for mobile WiMAX devices such as smart phones and PDAs. Sample shipment will start in August 2008. The chipset includes a baseband LSI, the MB86K22; an RF LSI, the MB86K52; and a power management LSI, the MB39C316. The three devices are essential elements for competitive WiMAX modules. The chipset was designed so that the size of the WiMAX module will be 12x12mm. The standby current - which has a direct impact on battery life - will not exceed 0.5mA, facilitating the development of attractive mobile WiMAX terminals.

The system uses the standard IP infrastructure that many companies are already equipped with as the connection to the server to offer a more economically priced, high-performance alternative for setting up a Storage Area Network (SAN) than via a separate fibre channel (FC) network.
