15 May 2008 US: Fujitsu Announces Record-Breaking Document Scanner Shipments
Sunnyvale, CA, May 15, 2008 – Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the company shipped more than 230,000 document imaging scanners in fiscal year 2007, ending March 31, 2008 -- a new record for the company. Additionally, Fujitsu achieved its best quarter ever in 2007, shipping more than 66,000 document imaging scanners in Q4FY07.

Tokyo, May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited, a leading provider of IT-based business solutions for the global marketplace, today reported a consolidated operating income of 204.9 billion yen (US$2,049 million) for fiscal 2007 (April 1, 2007 – March 31, 2008), an increase of 12.6% over the previous year. The increase in operating income was primarily attributable to sharply higher sales of solutions/SI, servers, PCs and mobile phones as well as the success of cost control initiatives throughout the Fujitsu Group.

Tokyo, May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that in its financial results for fiscal 2007 ended March 31, 2008, it has recognized a loss on the revaluation of investment securities as well as a loss on the revaluation of stocks of subsidiaries and affiliates whose current market value or net worth has declined significantly and is unlikely to be recovered in the future. In addition, a gain on the sale of a portion of investment securities was recognized.

12 May 2008 UK: Fujitsu Announces 150 New Jobs in Northern Ireland with an Investment of ￡8.8m
May 12, 2008 – Fujitsu Services, one of Europe’s leading IT services companies, today announced the creation of 120 jobs in Londonderry and a further 30 in Belfast. This is being made possible with £8.8m of investment from Fujitsu as well as over £2.2m of support from Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI). Fujitsu will establish an Applications Services Centre of Excellence at its Timber Quay site in Londonderry where the majority of the jobs will be based.

8 May 2008 Japan: Fujitsu to Launch ARM1176 Prototyping Kit
Tokyo, May 8, 2008 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Limited (FML) today announced that it will launch an ARM1176 prototyping kit, designed to shorten the development lead time for customers using FML's ASIC and COT services to develop system LSIs that include the ARM1176JZF-S™, ARM926EJ-S™, or ARM946E-S™ processor cores. The new prototyping kit will include an evaluation board loaded with chips for trying out the ARM1176JZF-S processor, a FPGA reference design, and sample programs. FML's prototyping kit will enable customers to debug their logic circuits and develop device drivers before fabrication of their chips, resulting in a faster system-LSI design process. The new kit will be available from July 2008, and will be exhibited at the 11th Embedded Systems Expo, to be held from May 14 to 16, 2008 at Tokyo Big Sight.

7 May 2008 UK: Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Wins Substantial BT Re-Manufacturing Contracts in Ireland
Birmingham, May 7, 2008 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited announces that its Antrim-based specialist re-manufacturing and repair division, Fujitsu Telecommunications Ireland (FTI), has recently won two major re-manufacturing contracts with a combined value of nearly GB £2.5 million. BT Convergent Solutions has awarded FTI a significant two-year contract for re-manufacturing and component-level repair services. Underlining re-manufacturing’s value as a waste-reduction strategy, the contract will involve the processing of approximately 1500 products per month, and spans around one hundred business-telephone product lines, including legacy products as well as a growing number of IP-based systems. In addition, FTI has also won a two-year contract to re-manufacture and repair BT’s installed base of Sovereign SM1 payphones throughout the UK, with 120 units refurbished in the first month.

Munich, April 30, 2008 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces the second generation of its FibreCAT TX24 and TX48 magnetic tape systems emphasizing multiple green characteristics. Saving to tape is generally more energy-efficient than saving to a hard disk, because no significant amount of power is consumed unless data is read or written to the tape. For the new FibreCAT TX S2 systems, the company has also focused on maintaining low power consumption when in operation, the use of environmentally friendly materials, as well as high and easy scalability, which results in a longer service life for the devices. Sunnyvale, CA, April 21, 2008 – Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products and broadcast solutions, today announced the latest revision of its IP-9500e MPEG-4 AVC Encoder, the industry’s leading encoding solution for real-time broadcast quality contribution content. Revision 3.0 firmware enables broadcasters to encode both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) video signals, and is also equipped with a new motion latency mode that is ideal for transmitting sporting and other rapid-motion events. 6 March 2008 Japan and Germany: Fujitsu and HHI Achieve Optical Amplitude Noise Reduction Using Ultra High-Speed Optical Switch
Kawasaki, Japan and Berlin, March 6, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institut(HHI) today announced the development of an ultra high-speed optical switch that uses nonlinear optical fiber to reduce optical amplitude noise, which degrades the quality of optical signals when they are transmitted. Employing this technology, suppression of optical amplitude noise using a 107 gigabit per second (Gbps) phase modulated ultra high-speed signal was successfully verified. In addition, in a data transmission test across 320 km, it was verified that data quality after transmission could be received with roughly the equivalent of its quality prior to transmission.

Atsugi, Japan, March 3, 2008 – Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced the successful formation of a new nano-scale carbon composite featuring a self-organizing structure , by combining carbon nanotubes and graphene which are both nano-scale carbon structures. The newly-discovered composite structure is synthesized at a temperature of 510 °C, cooler than for conventional graphene formed at temperatures too high for electronic device applications, thereby paving the way for the feasible use of graphene as a material suitable for future practical use in electronic devices which are vulnerable to heat. Carbon nanotubes have properties including high thermal conductivity and high current-density tolerance , while graphene is known for its high electron mobility.
