Rikkyo Primary School Introduces Advanced Security System for Real-time Monitoring of Students' Arrival/Departure

Munich and Stockholm, September 23, 2004 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Appear Networks have signed a Worldwide Corporate Reseller Agreement to offer customers a complete mobility solution. The agreement covers Appear Networks enterprise software products, a new generation of software enabling the deployment of value-added services on wireless networks. The Appear Client will be included in Pocket LOOX portal, where Pocket LOOX owners can download new applications and services to their device. The Appear Server will be distributed by certified value-added resellers, as part of their mobility solution offering. Together, the Appear Server and Client make the download of new applications as easy as receiving an email. An airport employee, for example, or a conference center guest, can access new applications via the local wireless network (WLAN) based on his/her present location, access rights, and the time of the day. Full applications can be downloaded, installed and started with a single click. Depending on the circumstances, the applications are either stored or automatically deleted when the user leaves the area

Fujitsu Continues ASIC Leadership with 90-nanometer CS101 CMOS Standard Cell Series for Mobile, Telecommunications and Networking Markets

Sunnyvale, CA, September 22, 2004 – Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and Fujitsu Limited are now developing a total of 13 new high-performance ASICs for a variety of networking, CPU and mobile communications applications using 90-nanometer process technology. Three of the new 90nm ASICs are in production. The new, highly complex designs incorporate between 6 million and more than 25 million logic gates and 20 to 30Mbits of SRAM, in addition to high-speed serial interfaces operating at up to 6.4Gbps.

Fujitsu, University of Tokyo Develop World's First 10Gbps Quantum Dot Laser Featuring Breakthrough Temperature-Independent Output

Tokyo, September 10, 2004 – Fujitsu Limited and a research group at the University of Tokyo led by Professor Yasuhiko Arakawa, today announced the joint development of a quantum dot (*1) laser that succeeds in minimizing temperature-sensitive output fluctuations, which was not possible with semiconductor lasers in the past. The newly developed quantum dot laser achieves high-speed operation of 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) across a temperature range of 20°C to 70°C without electrical current adjustments, and has minimal output fluctuations caused by changes in temperature. This breakthrough technology will pave the way for compact, low-cost, and low power-consumption optical transmitters targeting optical metro-access systems (*2) and high-speed optical LAN (*3) for which further development continues.

Toshiba, NEC Electronics, and Fujitsu Agree on "COSMORAM Rev.3" Common Specifications for PSRAM

Tokyo, September 6, 2004 – Toshiba Corporation, NEC Electronics Corporation, and Fujitsu Limited today announced that they have agreed on standard interface specifications for Pseudo Static Random Access Memory (PSRAM) (*1) with burst mode. Based on the specifications, known as COSMORAM (Common Specifications for Mobile RAM) Rev. 3, each of the three companies will independently begin production and sales of PSRAM devices, with products scheduled to be available from each company starting March 2005.
