- BT's £1/2 million+ Emergency Recovery Unit Project Turned Around in Record Time
Birmingham, June 12, 2003 – Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, announces the completion of a fast-track project to design, supply and install several self-contained mobile infrastructure units (MIUs), each weighing some 14 tonnes fully equipped. Involving an investment in excess of £0.5 million, the BT MIUs are designed to be deployed anywhere in the country in no more than 12 hours, in order to restore vital communications in the event of an emergency. The portable units represent a key component in BT's "business as usual" policy, ensuring that the communications infrastructure can be restored as quickly as possible in the case of a major service disruption.
