German Design Council awards a 'Special Mention' German Design Award 2014 to the new Fujitsu Visual Identity

November 22, 2013

German Design Award, SPECIAL MENTIONThe Fujitsu corporate design, offering a unique and striking visual interpretation of the brand promise "shaping tomorrow with you", has been awarded a 'Special Mention' at the acclaimed German Design Award 2014 in the communication tools category. The German Design Award is one of the highest design awards in Germany. The 'Special Mention' distinction honors works whose design exhibited particularly noteworthy aspects or solutions — an advancement award that recognizes the commitment of both companies and designers.

What is the German Design Award 2014?

The German Design Award is an international premium prize, which successfully enhances the standing of both designers and companies. Prizes will go to top quality products and projects from product and communication design, design personalities and newcomers, all of whom are — in their own way — pioneering in German and international design landscape. And not only a jury of experts will vote. For the Public's Choice prize all design enthusiasts can cast a vote. The aim of the German Design Award is to identify, present and honour unique design trends. A competition that advances the design scene.

As an industry competition for the industry that highlights participants' great design expertise, the German Design Award has an excellent public image. This is also down to the reputation of its organizer, the German Design Council, which has been representing and supporting the German design industry with its expertise in all questions relating to design for 60 years now. A nomination for the German Design Award on the occasion of the anniversary of the German Design Council is especially significant — it stands for 60 years of design culture.

FUJITSU corporate design (overview)

Essence of Fujitsu's Visual Identity (VI)

Fujitsu's corporate design was developed to translate the brand promise "shaping tomorrow with you" into a unique visual statement that reinforces the company's brand identity around the world.
The main VI building blocks are the Fujitsu Symbol Mark (logo mark), the Response Module (brand graphic), the Fujitsu Sans corporate font family and a distinctive photo style.
In addition, the VI relies on red as the official corporate color, using a striking and differentiating color palette that resonates strongly with the international ITC market. The new VI guidelines were rolled out globally for a consistent look and feel the world over.

The Response Module

Symbolizing dialog, the Response Module is a powerful and effective interpretation of the brand promise "shaping tomorrow with you". The Response Module shape can also be found in the Fujitsu Symbol Mark lettering. It emphasizes "the Fujitsu Way", providing a unique and unforgettable reminder of Fujitsu's commitment to understanding its customers and communicating with them.

Fujitsu Sans corporate font

The Fujitsu Sans corporate font family expresses the consistency and solidity of "the Fujitsu Way".
Fujitsu Sans is an original font designed to build on the Symbol Mark and strengthen communication of the "shaping tomorrow with you" message with its modern, forward-looking style.
The typeface is dynamic and highly legible with its open, light lines and curves. It plays a crucial role in ensuring instant recognition of all Fujitsu communications / publications and of the Fujitsu Symbol Mark, clearly differentiating Fujitsu's Visual Identity from the competition.
