How to Use Web Accessibility Inspector 5.1

Web Accessibility Inspector examines the accessibility of a website. This section describes the step-by-step procedure for using Web Accessibility Inspector. (The bellow description for the English version.)



Step1

Download Web Accessibility Inspector from the Fujitsu Web site and install it on your Personal Computer (PC).

On Windows® Machines
Double-click WebAccessibilityInspector_en.exe in the Fujitsu Web Accessibility Inspector for English folder.

On Mac OS X Machines
Double-click Web Accessibility Inspector for English in the Fujitsu Web Accessibility Inspector for English folder.


Step3

Environment Settings

It is necessary to set up the environment for Web Accessibility Inspector before starting to use its checking functions.

1. Click [Set up the environment...].


2. Confirm that [Use HTML browser] is checked.

3. Confirm that "explorer.exe" is indicated in [Browser path].

4. If a proxy server is used, check [Use proxy]. After you set the address and port of a proxy server, you can specify the item to be checked by its URL.

5. Check [Items to display in the check result] and check [OK].



Step4

Checking Procedure

1. Select the target for checking.

2. To specify the target in [File/folder], click [Browse...]. Then select one or more target files. It is possible to specify whether to check the files in the selected folder and in the subfolders below.

3. When specifying the target in [URL], enter its Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

4. Select the set of guidelines to be used for checking from [Guidelines for checking:]. There are two sets of guidelines: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and Fujitsu Web Accessibility Guidelines.

5. Click [Start checking]. When checking is completed, a "Display the check result." message.


6. Click [OK]. The browser starts and displays the result of checking.

* If an information bar is displayed,

Click [Allow Blocked Content...] and click [Yes].



Step5

Result of Checking

The names of the checked files and any problems are indicated.

Click [View] on the screen. The target Web page is displayed in a separate window. The problematic locations are indicated with blinking red lines. If there are any problems that cannot be displayed in the browser, a hyphen is shown and the corresponding HTML source code follows.
