Fujitsu and Iseki Partner on Agricultural Cloud Services

Akisai food and agriculture cloud collaboration to develop and deliver agricultural management services

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, December 12, 2013

Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has entered into an agreement to collaborate with farm machinery manufacturer Iseki & Co., Ltd. on the development and delivery of additional value-added services for the FUJITSU Intelligent Society Solution "Akisai" Food and Agriculture Cloud, Agriculture Production Management SaaS .

As a first step for this new initiative, Iseki will use the expertise it has gained through manufacturing and sales of farm machinery to customize the Agriculture Production Management SaaS, which it will make available as an Iseki service from next fiscal year. In addition to Fujitsu's sales of the Agriculture Production Management SaaS, this arrangement will expand sales by taking advantage of Iseki's existing channels with farm producers.

In July 2012, Fujitsu announced the introduction of its Akisai food and agriculture cloud, which, by employing ICT to generate dramatically higher farm management efficiency, aims to bring about a future of plentiful food, where safe, secure, and delicious food products are always available. Fujitsu aims to continue providing systems that further contribute to improvements in farm management, as it continues to partner with companies from a variety of industries.

In this new initiative involving its Akisai cloud, Fujitsu and Iseki have agreed to collaborate, with Iseki customizing the Agriculture Production Management SaaS to enhance farm product management as a service provided to agricultural producers through the Iseki Group. In addition, Fujitsu and Iseki will collaborate in the development and delivery of high value-added services for these producers by utilizing data collected through Iseki's farm machinery.

Fujitsu's experience in collecting data from sensors and cameras installed in agricultural fields (including air and soil temperature, amount of sunlight, and crop photos) and data from smartphones (such as work results, production histories, and work location records), gathering it in the cloud, and analyzing it, has enabled its Agriculture Production Management SaaS to contribute to data-driven improvements in farm management.

Going forward, Iseki's farm machinery operating in the field can be used to collect various data, such as on machinery and work status. This data can then be incorporated into Fujitsu's systems with the aim of using it to drive further improvements in farm management.
