A ten minute charge provides a full day of battery life, a full charge, up to three days for a stress-free user experience

Fujitsu Mobile Communications Limited,Fujitsu Limited

Kawasaki and Tokyo, December 04, 2013

Fujitsu Mobile Communications Limited and Fujitsu Limited today announced that its new ARROWS A SoftBank 301F smartphone, manufactured by Fujitsu Mobile Communications, will be available in Japan from SoftBank retailers starting December 6, 2013.

Through its ability to charge extremely quickly and its high-capacity battery, the 301F can be charged in ten minutes to provide a day's use and through a full charge can last for three days(1). The phone features fine-tuned power savings capabilities enabled by its Fujitsu Human Centric Engine, as well as a TFT LCD display embedded with a RAM chip that significantly reduces power consumption when displaying still images. This Fujitsu smartphone enables users to use the handset without having to worry about when the battery will run out.

In aiming to develop a smartphone that supports users in their daily lives, Fujitsu designed the stylish 301F with a smooth, seamless form factor that fits comfortably into the palm of your hand. The handset is equipped with Fujitsu's original user interface enabling convenient operations through features like a slide display, which helps users operate the large screen with a single hand, as well as security capabilities such as a smart fingerprint sensor, and a high-resolution 13.1 megapixel camera that any user can operate intuitively. The result is a next-generation smartphone with a 'made-in-Japan' build quality that delivers the ultimate ease of use and comfort to a wide spectrum of customers.

As smartphone devices today mostly feature similar specs and functions, customers are increasingly looking for phones that are easier and more comfortable to use. To deliver a stress-free smartphone experience, Fujitsu has developed ARROWS A 301F as a smartphone that brings together long battery life, an easy-to-operate touchscreen, and easy-to-view and easy-to-hear features. This focus on an interface that users can feel the value of at a personal level has led to a smartphone that meets customer needs for easy operability and comfort.

Product Features

A ten minute charge for a day of use, and up to three days on a full charge

The phone can rapidly charge to over 30% battery capacity in only 10 minutes making for easy charging on a busy morning or before having to suddenly head outside. The large-capacity 2,600-mAh battery and variety of power saving enhancements enables up to three days of battery life on a full charge.

Cutting-edge intelligent power saving support technologies

301F features a 5-inch TFT LCD with an embedded RAM chip that, by temporarily storing screen data in RAM, can significantly reduce power consumption when displaying still images.

In addition, the Fujitsu Human Centric Engine technology, which delivers optimal usability through cutting-edge sensing technology, constantly monitors usage environment and status in real time, comprehensively supporting users in conserving power through functionality. This includes the ability to automatically detect whether the user is in transit in order to efficiently scan for Wi-Fi access points, or to appropriately adjust the brightness of the display depending on the light environment – such as a bright outdoor location or a dimly lit room – through fine-grained electrical current control for the backlight.

Fujitsu has updated the NX!eco application, which can integrate and configure separate power-saving settings. This enables fine-tuned power-saving settings depending on the user's personal usage style, such as the ability to enter into eco mode at specified battery levels or timeframes.

Smart fingerprint sensor

Fujitsu has advanced the development of its unique smart fingerprint sensor technology – which delivers enhanced security to guard user privacy and eliminate the hassle of inputting a pattern or password – in order to accommodate the specific features of each of the models it is incorporated into, such as models with water resistance and ultra-thin models. On the 301F, the fingerprint sensor features a stylish curved design, and the time taken between the phone being unlocked to when the home screen can be accessed has been reduced by roughly 30%, enabling even greater ease of use.

High-performance intelligent camera easily captures the perfect moment in high definition

The smartphone employs Fujitsu's high-performance "GRANVU" image processing engine, which allows users to capture exceptionally vivid photographs. 301F includes photography features such as Quick Focus, which accelerates the speed of autofocus, and automatically adjusts based on the position of the person taking the photo and the angle of the smartphone. This makes it easy to rapidly capture the ideal photo. The phone's Intelligent Flash is significantly brighter than before, enabling naturally bright-looking photos to be captured even in dark locations.

Fujitsu has also made it easy for anybody to use the camera thanks to its simple operations. Users can capture their favorite shot, all with a simple press of the shutter button.

High-spec capabilities

The Android 4.2 smartphone comes loaded with a wide range of capabilities, such as a quad-core 2.2-GHz CPU (Qualcomm MSM8974), the high-performance ATOK® Japanese-language input system, IPX5/8 water resistance(2), infrared, NFC (equipped with FeliCa), Osaifu-Keitai, 1-seg and full-seg television broadcast reception, an FM transmitter, DLNA/DTCP-IP, Miracast, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Handset design and sound capabilities

The handset's design brings together a seamless form factor that fits comfortably into the palm of your hand with a high-quality, smooth and round ceramic feel. Moreover, the phone comes preinstalled with alarm chimes and other sound effects from Koji Nakamura (ex. SUPERCAR). As a result, the handset offers a host of sound effects that appeal to a wide audience, including ringtones that calmly talk to the user and alarm tones that leave the user refreshed upon awakening.

Service to Support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

The smartphone supports VMware® Horizon Workspace™, a service that provides a user access to a company's internal system by creating a virtual environment different to the one they use outside of work on their smartphone. A company's system administrator can create a BYOD environment that takes privacy issues into consideration and does not allow the administrator access to personal information stored on the user's smartphone.

  • [1] Three-days of battery life on a single charge, full-day after only ten minutes

Single day based on a 16.3 hour day of activity time (excluding sleep), as defined in the activity categories set forth in the "2011 Key Social Life Survey" published by Japan's Statistics Bureau. The 10-minute charge assumes the use of the accompanying desktop holder and an adapter made specifically for this model, from the time the low-battery error message appears (at 15% capacity). Actual measurements by Fujitsu based on customer usage conditions.Performance may significantly fluctuate depending on application status and network conditions.

  • [2] IPX5/8 water resistance

The IPX5 designation indicates that the mobile phone can normally function after being sprayed with water from a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of approximately 3m for a period of at least 3 minutes. The IPX8 designation, in the case of the 301F, indicates that the mobile phone functions normally after being immersed in room-temperature tap water to a depth of 1.5m for approximately 30 minutes.
