Fujitsu Enables More Effective Use of Cloud with Enhanced Hybrid Cloud Initiatives

Full lineup of services and products compatible with Microsoft Cloud OS added to Fujitsu cloud services

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, November 20, 2013

Fujitsu today announced enhancements to its FUJITSU Cloud Initiative, which represents the company's ongoing initiative to provide various cloud-related products and services in a systematic way to meet the cloud needs of customers. The company will now provide a lineup of products and platform services - across all cloud domains(1) - implementing Microsoft Corporation's Cloud OS vision. Fujitsu is also reinforcing its hybrid cloud initiatives that enable development of flexible combinations of public clouds and private clouds.

As a result, customers can build flexible and highly responsive cloud systems that interconnect these platform services that run on technology conforming to Microsoft's standards.

Using services and tools that enable the integrated operational management of all cloud platform environments, Fujitsu is able to build and operate optimal ICT environments for hybrid clouds in support of its customers' businesses.

To be able to quickly and flexibly respond to changes in their business environment while continuing to grow, customers are today looking with keen interest at using hybrid clouds that make use of their existing ICT environment in combination with the most appropriate cloud platform.

Fujitsu, seeking to provide customers with optimal cloud solutions, systematized its cloud-related products and services in the FUJITSU Cloud Initiative announced on May 14, 2013. Now, Fujitsu will provide platform services and products that comply with the Microsoft Cloud OS vision, which delivers an integrated platform for public clouds, service provider clouds, and private clouds. In enhancing its hybrid cloud initiatives, in addition to its existing cloud services, Fujitsu will strengthen its ability to provide services that use Microsoft technology, while offering one-stop solutions, from planning and construction to operations, for optimum ICT environments that meet customers' business needs.

About the New Services

1. The enhanced public cloud service FUJITSU Cloud PaaS A5 for Windows Azure

FUJITSU Cloud PaaS A5, the public cloud service powered by Windows Azure that Fujitsu has been providing from its own datacenter since August 2011, will be integrated with the new datacenter that Microsoft is building in Japan. This service enhancement will enable customers to use the latest Windows Azure features available from global datacenters located in different regions, while continuing to use the 24 value-added services provided by Fujitsu, including, applications, middleware, operational services, and 24/7 Japanese language support service.

In addition, as Microsoft's datacenter and Fujitsu's datacenters will be interconnected through a new network, customers can use a hybrid cloud consisting of the "A5 for Windows Azure" public cloud service in combination with Fujitsu's private cloud service. This enhancement will enable customers' mission critical systems to be smoothly and quickly connected with A5 for Windows Azure.

2. The new private cloud service FUJITSU Cloud IaaS Private Hosted A5+ for Windows Server

Fujitsu now offers a private cloud service hosted from its datacenter running Windows Server 2012 R2 and the system administration software System Center 2012 R2. Customers can use a Hyper-V-based virtual environment with either virtual or physical machines for a fixed monthly fee per machine. The service can also be tailored to a customer's operations, and the systems flexibly customized with such features as security policies and private leased circuits - unavailable with public clouds.

3. The enhanced private cloud platform FUJITSU Integrated System Cloud Ready Blocks

The vertically integrated private cloud platform, Cloud Ready Blocks, complies with Microsoft Private Cloud Fast Track, which reduces complexities and risks when deploying a private cloud. Now Cloud Ready Blocks has been enhanced to make it compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2 and the system administration software System Center 2012.

In building a private cloud environment for customers, not only does the offering come prepackaged with all the required hardware and software, thereby significantly reducing the time required for deployment, but it also automates operations through infrastructure integration management, thereby significantly reducing operating costs. In addition, smooth back-ups of business application software assets and the construction of disaster recovery environments are made possible by employing hybrid cloud functions for the A5 for Windows Azure public cloud service, the Private Hosted A5+ for Windows Server private cloud service, and the Cloud Ready Blocks private cloud platform.

4. The new FUJITSU Cloud Enterprise Communication Service

With its new Enterprise Communication Service, Fujitsu is offering a private cloud service-based Global Communications Platform, which enables seamless information sharing, more active communication, and the sharing of expertise and skills as all employees use a common set of information tools.

Microsoft's Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync products are provided through the cloud, are offered together with optional services, such as systems operations, support, email archiving, and anti-spam measures. In addition, based on the Fujitsu Group's internal track record, Fujitsu has newly added an array of tools that contribute to greater efficiency in operations, improved convenience, and use of smart devices, to deliver one-stop service, from deployment to operations.

This service is run on the new private cloud service Private Hosted A5+ for Windows Server, enabling customers who are focused on system reliability and the location of data to use the service with confidence.

5. New Multi-Cloud Integrated Monitoring Service

Fujitsu will offer its new FUJITSU Cloud Integration Services Multi-Cloud Integrated Monitoring Service, which enables the integrated monitoring and operations of diverse platform environments, such as public clouds, private clouds, and on-premises infrastructure, as well as cloud environments provided by multiple vendors.

This service enables unified monitoring and operations of a wide range of IT resources, naturally including Fujitsu's cloud services, and extending to the cloud services of Microsoft and other major vendors, as well as on-premises environments. It handles over 150 monitoring points, such as the operational status of servers and networks as well as the usage status of CPUs and memory.
