Fujitsu Launches SaaS-based Hotel Management and Reservations Service

- Inexpensive SaaS edition of solution with a proven track record of servicing over 1,000 business hotels -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, December 18, 2009

Fujitsu today announced the launch of GLOVIA smart Hotel SaaS Services which enables business hotels in Japan to quickly and inexpensively access critical functions for managing hotel operations, including revenue management(1) techniques needed for day-to-day reservation operations and business management.

With this service, customers can avoid investing in a customized operations and management system, and can simply use their existing personal computers and Internet connection to enjoy the benefits of a sophisticated hotel-management system, enabling them to offer a higher level of service to their guests.

With the service being operated from Fujitsu's high-security datacenter, hotel guest data are maintained and stored with the highest level of safeguards. As Fujitsu handles all upgrades and functional additions, costs involved in updating and operating software are eliminated.

Background

Due to the decrease in business trips and travelers as a result of the economic downturn, business hotels have been struggling with an extended slow period, leading to fierce competition in both prices and attracting guests. This has created a need for efficient hotel management systems that can increase the level of service provided to guests while maximizing profits. But for smaller or medium-sized hotels with approximately 100 rooms, the upfront costs to build these systems are prohibitive, leaving administrative tasks to be taken care of manually.

Fujitsu has an established track record in the hotel industry, having sold its GLOVIA smart Hotel packaged software to over 1,000 hotels. Fujitsu has built on this experience to newly offer GLOVIA smart Hotel SaaS Services, making critical management functions available to smaller business hotels.

Service Benefits

  1. Delivers an advanced hotel management system quickly and inexpensively
The service provides the various functions needed to manage accommodations ranging from reservations and check-out to daily accounting. Startup costs and monthly fees are fixed and inexpensive, making it accessible to hotels that previously were unable to justify the expense of dedicated systems. Furthermore, the service includes analytical features standardized to bring in maximum room revenues. This in turn, contributes to the type of revenue management in demand by hotel administration, improving areas such as setting room rates in accordance with changing reservation conditions.
  2. Flexible screen designs to fit different hotel operating methods
Clients have the flexibility to select what fields appear on screen to suit their hotel's operational methods. By selecting and using just the necessary business functions, hotel staff can operate with maximum efficiency and devote more of their effort to improving guest services.

The basic service includes integration with existing hotel reservation systems such as Rakuten and Jalan. Options include building the hotel's own reservations website, enabling linkage with card key and PBX systems, as well as integration with Rakujan, the Internet-based reservation-management tool. Clients are free to choose only the functions they require.
