Fujitsu Releases Interstage XML Business Activity Recorder

- Leverages middleware technology and ERP expertise to offer innovative data utilization -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, October 26, 2009

Fujitsu today announced the immediate availability in Japan of the Interstage XML Business Activity Recorder, a software package that records all business activities of an organization.

The product merges general-purpose processing technology from Fujitsu's Interstage middleware for linking, storing, and utilizing data, with the company's expertise in recording and using fine-grained business data derived from its GLOVIA ERP package solution, resulting in a fundamentally new software.

The product records detailed data that resides in multiple business systems in a unified XML format, allowing users to quickly manipulate the data as needed.

Businesses using this software will have a single database managing the records of their business activities. This will enable multi-faceted views and analyses of the data to suit the needs of managers and specialists, helping them to improve the quality, as well as the accuracy and efficiency of their business management.

Background

In order to bring about sound management to deal with changing business conditions, businesses need to improve operations on an ongoing basis while simultaneously pursuing fast and accurate compliance management and auditing. To satisfy these needs, it is important to visualize all of the company's internal activities. Presently, data for different business activities is usually stored using specific software for each activity, such as sales, accounting, and proprietary software, making it challenging to view as a whole.

Furthermore, a comprehensive view of all operational data is necessary for developing a new information system as well as monitoring company-wide business activities. Collecting data to accomplish this requires a massive commitment of time and effort.

To address these issues, Fujitsu has released the Interstage XML Business Activity Recorder, a software package for recording all business activities of a company.

The new product automatically generates a database that stores all business activities as XML-formatted data. This automatically generated, unitary database provides employees from a variety of standpoints, such as managers, specialists, and front-end employees, with usable data that suits their needs.

Product Features

1. High-speed linkage with multiple business applications
The Interstage XML Business Activity Recorder employs a service bus that laterally ties together multiple business applications, as well as asynchronous messaging(1) to collect all detailed data processed by these applications without interrupting the flow of business or leaking data.

Collected data is stored in an XML format that allows the data generated by each application to be added to or changed. In addition, a file-linking feature allows data tie-up with applications that are already in use.

2. Reliably records data in its original state
Because detailed data is stored without exception as it is generated, this product keeps a complete log of changes and deletions, resulting in a visible timeline of everything up to the present that clearly depicts the status of business activities. Fujitsu's highly reliable, high-performance database technology allows massive volumes of important data to be securely stored.

3. Quick access to large volumes of data
Up until now, data extraction has required multiple rounds of searching for each index field stored in a database. By adopting Fujitsu's unique "SIGMA Search Technology", the software enables data to be found just by a single search without predefining the index fields.

This product was developed around the idea of recording all activities in an XML-formatted "XML ledger(2)", and represents the commercialization of Fujitsu's own internal record-keeping practices.
