Fujitsu Enhances SAP System Operations and Management Services

- Establishes service center with expert personnel -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, May 20, 2009

Fujitsu Limited today announced the establishment of its SAP Service Center, bringing together expert personnel, as part of the company's drive to significantly enhance its operations and management services for SAP systems in Japan. In addition, Fujitsu will begin offering new SAP Solution Manager Configuration Assistance Services to help customers install and set up the software to run their SAP systems more efficiently.

The SAP system application-management service Application Management Outsourcing (AMO) and the platform-management service Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) will now be offered through the new center, providing customers with a higher level of service. Through these services, customers will no longer require specialists on staff to operate and manage their SAP systems, minimizing operating costs while maintaining an optimized system with stable uptime and lifecycle oversight.

In recent years, customers deploying SAP systems have found that as the range of solutions has diversified and the architecture of the systems has become more complex, the need for high-quality operations, as well as the advanced skills and specialized knowledge to manage these systems, has increased. As these systems provide the application backbone for operations, in-house IT departments are burdened with the increasingly high costs of retaining their own expert staff and training them to handle new technologies, resulting in a pressing need to simultaneously reduce operational costs while maintaining stability.

In December 2008, Fujitsu was certified by SAP Japan as its first support center to handle system operations and management for the SAP application system. Fujitsu has since led the industry in providing SAP operations and management services. To respond to customer needs, Fujitsu has now brought together its own expert staff with the skills and knowledge needed to operate modern SAP systems with its new SAP Service Center. The new center will enhance Fujitsu's SAP system operations and management service offerings.

Fujitsu SAP Service Center: Main Service Offerings

1. SAP Solutions Manager Configuration Assistance Services

To enable efficient system operations, Fujitsu installs the SAP Solution Manager in their PRIMERGY PC servers through this service and sets up basic configurations for the service desk, registers the customer's operational process documents, and performs the appropriate system failure analysis when needed. In the event that a customer encounters a problem, not only will Fujitsu or SAP be able to perform remote maintenance, but the software will also allow for solution monitoring and version updates. This will allow customers to benefit from more stable system operations without needing specialists on staff. Services to set up the SAP Solution Manager in existing systems are also available.

2. Management and Outsourcing Services

From 2000 onwards, Fujitsu began offering ITO/AMO services by using its own datacenter to perform outsourcing services for operating customer SAP systems. In collaboration with SAP Japan and Microsoft, the Fujitsu SAP Service Center will provide total lifecycle support for customer systems. This will not only help customers reduce their operating costs, but enable them to shift the focus of their in-house specialized staff members currently engaged in operations and management, to strategic IT services.
