Fujitsu Reports FY2003 First-Half Financial Results Tokyo, Global, October 29, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 2,141.9 billion yen (approximately US$19.3 billion) for the first half of fiscal year 2003 (April 1 - September 30, 2003), a 0.4% decrease from the first half of fiscal 2002. Net sales in the second quarter increased 3.1%, to 1,203.1 billion yen, led by strong sales of PCs, mobile telephones, logic chips, and plasma display panels. It was the first time since the first quarter of FY2001 that Fujitsu posted year-on-year quarterly sales growth. Higher sales and lower operating expenses contributed to a rebound in second quarter operating income to 19.8 billion yen (US$179 million). For the company as a whole, however, a large operating loss in the first quarter resulted in an operating loss for the first six months of 17.9 billion yen (US$162 million), compared to an operating loss of 23.2 billion yen for the first half of FY2002.

Fujitsu Receives Order for World's Fastest Linux Cluster System from Japan's Institute of Physical and Chemical Research Tokyo, Global, July 31, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited today announced that the company has received an order from Japan's Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, known as Riken, for a supercomputing-grade cluster of Linux computers with a total of 2,048 CPUs capable of achieving 12.4 teraflops of computing performance. This system will be a model for the next generation of large-scale computing centers, based on Linux, grid computing, and other advanced technologies. It is scheduled to be operational by March 2004.
Fujitsu Reports FY2003 First Quarter Financial Results Tokyo, Global, July 29, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 938.7 billion yen, approximately US$7.8 billion, for the first quarter of fiscal year 2003 (April 1 - June 30, 2003), a 4.5% decrease from the first quarter of fiscal 2002. Lower sales of platforms products and other factors contributed to the overall decline in sales. While the company is reaping the benefits of lower fixed costs stemming from the restructuring initiatives implemented last year, the impact of lower sales resulted in an operating loss of 37.8 billion yen.

Fujitsu Unveils New Flash Memory Products Tokyo, Global, April 10, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited today announced the release of two new low-voltage (1.8V) flash-memory products that respond to mobile communications devices' growing needs for greater storage capacity, high-speed operation and lower power consumption. The MBMN29BS12DH is a NOR-type 128-Mbit product with burst mode functionality for use in mobile devices. The MBM29SL800TE and MBM29SL800BE are NOR-type 8-Mbit products employing Super Chip Size Package (Super-CSPTM) packaging technology for use in wireless communications modules, such as Bluetooth, and for ultra-compact mobile devices.
Fujitsu Releases New 32-bit RISC Microcontroller, the MB91302 Tokyo, Global, April 08, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has jointly developed with Fujitsu VLSI Limited the MB91302, a new 32-bit high-performance RISC microcontroller that implements direct memory access for high-speed data transfer. The new microcontroller, which is especially well suited for DVD players, digital cameras, printers, video games, and other applications that require high-speed throughput, is available starting today.
Fujitsu Releases 16-bit Microcontroller for LCD Panel Drivers Tokyo, Global, April 02, 2003 - Fujitsu Limited, in collaboration with Fujitsu Devices Inc., today announced the release of four new microcontrollers for liquid crystal display panel drivers that can support up a maximum of 192 segments. Designed for use in audio-visual equipment and digital consumer electronics as part of Fujitsu's MB90800 Series, the new products are available starting today.
AMD and Fujitsu Announce New Flash Memory Company Tokyo, Global, April 01, 2003 - AMD (NYSE: AMD) and Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702, "Fujitsu") today announced they have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a new Flash memory semiconductor company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. A Japan headquarters will be located in Tokyo. The new company, to be called FASL LLC, will be based on the integration of AMD and Fujitsu's Flash memory businesses, including their existing joint manufacturing venture, Fujitsu AMD Semiconductor Limited. The new company is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of this year.
