Product Recycling Efforts in Europe
In Europe, national laws transposed from EU WEEE directive(*) have been legislated. The purpose of the WEEE Directive is to prevent waste electrical and electronic equipment and to reduce the total volume of used electronic equipment for disposal. As result of the laws, private households in EU member states can return their WEEE free of charge. These laws cover all the final products of Fujitsu.
In response to WEEE, Fujitsu labels a crossed-out wheeled bin shown on the right side. Also, Fujitsu selected and contracted with recycling and logistics companies or joined collective schemes for collection and recycling in each member states.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has been operating a "Remarketing and Recycling Center" since 1988 in Germany. Fujitsu Siemens Computers are not only working on reuse and recycling, but also utilizing the experience from the recycling process for the product development of new products.
PC and Server Recycling efforts at Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Europe are described below.
If you use Fujitsu products other than PC or Server and are interested in recycling, please contact your sales representative of each Fujitsu Group Company in each country.
