We participated in “Tokyo Greenship Action” and implemented forest conservation activity.
“Tokyo Greenship Action” is the activity which is sponsored by Tokyo Metropolitan Government in order to conserve the valuable
natural environment remains in Tokyo such as forests in mountain terrains and “Satoyama” and trees in urban areas. Companies,
NPOs, and citizens of Tokyo conduct activity in coalition. This activity began from year 2003, and Fujitsu Group participated
this time (year 2005) for the first time, in order to raise employees’ consciousness of environmental social contribution
activity.
25 persons including Fujitsu group employees and families gathered at Ooya green space conservation area in Hachioji on December
3rd,2005, Saturday. We were divided in 5 groups with Tama Zerox Co.,Ltd., and enjoyed green area observation, weeds cutting,
and fallen leaves raking in the morning, and nature observation game using the five senses in the afternoon, under the direction
of the NPO Local Partnership Center. Participants actually experienced cutting down of trees using saw, and a smile of a child
who used the saw for the first time and cut down a big Styrax japonica, watched over by his father, was impressive. He and
his father surely had new recognition to nature. We think that the sweating experience during a day of the early winter in
a coppice surely leads to the revolution of consciousness to the environmental social contribution activity.
