1-Mbit FRAM developed and successfully mass-produced in 2004 which had the world's largest capacity for products of its type. FRAM is a type of memory that combines the advantages of RAM and ROM. It has a write speed over 10,000 times faster than EEPROM with only a few percent of the power consumption, and has achieved a rewritable frequency of 100,000 times or more. It realized improvements in the performance of devices such as PDAs (Portable Digital Assistant) and information home appliances which were becoming more and more advanced.
