The intelligent Scalar i6000 tape library is specifically designed for the archive and long-term data retention needs in an enterprise-level environment. The Scalar i6000 offers many new features such as next generation iLayer software, a new Storage Networking solution, Extended Data Life Management (EDLM) data integrity feature, Dual Robots, Active Vault and bulk load I/E capabilities. Library security features and encryption support protect customer data.

Any existing Scalar i2000 library can be upgraded to a Scalar i6000 with an upgrade kit to take advantage of the additional 'i6000-unique' options like LTO-5 tape drives and the new iLayer features.
