The BS2000-Manager for disk-subsystems

The SHC-OSD software product is the BS2000/OSD host component for the management of the main functions of the following disk storage systems: ETERNUS DX, Symmetrix DMX and VMAX and CLARiiON CX. It provides information services and commands for controlling the Symmetrix functions SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) / TimeFinder and the SnapView functionality of CLARiiON CX systems. As of SHC-OSD V9.0 commands and information services for controlling the replication functions of the storage systems ETERNUS DX400, DX400 S2 and DX8000 are also provided.
For ETERNUS DX systems SHC-OSD supports the replication functions EC and REC. EquivalentCopy (EC) provides local, continuous mirroring on a volume basis with separable mirrors and Remote Equivalent Copy offers synchronous mirroring on a volume basis with separable mirrors between 2 or more ETERNUS DX systems.
The Symmetrix SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) product family makes it possible to copy data to other (remote) Symmetrix systems. The Symmetrix TimeFinder product family permits the creation of additional volume copies within a Symmetrix system, which - once split - can be processed separately.
SHC-OSD provides selected information about the Symmetrix configuration as well as about the current status of SRDF and TimeFinder processing.
Analog to the TimeFinder control functions of Symmetrix, SHC-OSD provides similar functions for local mirroring and snap-based backup/restore for CLARiiON CX.
