openCRYPT™-BOX

Canal-coupled external co-processor for encryption

openCryptographic Booster Extension (openCRYPT™-BOX) is an external co-processor that relieves the BS2000 CPU from encryption tasks via a fast channel linkage. It contains the cryptographic functions for performing the algorithms listed under openCryptographic Services (openCRYPT™-SERV). As the base module, it provides the PKCS#11 framework with a modified crypto-
graphic function library using the Hamburg-based TrustCenter GNU library.
Depending on the configuration selected, openCRYPT™-BOX can be attached to a BS2000/OSD server via one or two type S channels. Several openCRYPT™-BOX units can also be connected to distribute loads, act as backups or enable mutual redundancy.
