March 17, 2004 — Oy Hartwall Ab and KONE Oyj have renewed their IT Service Agreements with Fujitsu Services Oy. The KONE agreement was extended by two years and the Hartwall agreement will be valid until the end of 2006.
According to the agreement, Fujitsu assumes comprehensive responsibility for the provision and development of Hartwall's information management services. Hartwall's Provia service covers a total of some 800 workstations and several dozen servers. In addition, the agreement covers availability and application services, the most significant of which is the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The SAP services include application services and technical hardware maintenance.
Apart from SAP, Fujitsu also provides Hartwall with support services for several other operative applications, such as high bay storage system, cargo planning, drivers' palmtop terminals and the Cognos-based reporting system for the management.
According to the renewed agreement with KONE, the Provia service now covers over 1,400 workstations and 80 servers. Furthermore, the service package has been expanded. For example, user support service hours were extended to 24/7 or 24/5, depending on the line of business.
The co-operation between Fujitsu and KONE began in the summer of 1999, when Fujitsu assumed responsibility for management and monitoring services of KONE’s servers. In 2000, workstation support services at KONE’s Finnish offices and its five Finnish subsidiaries were also transferred to the management of Fujitsu. In the beginning of 2002, the agreement was expanded to also cover user support services.
Hartwall and Fujitsu signed their first service agreement in the summer of 1999. Apart from the Provia service and SAP application services, the co-operation has produced several separate projects, such as the drivers' palmtop terminal project that was concluded in 2003. As a result of this project, Hartwall's delivery truck drivers access Hartwall’s IT system directly from their wireless communicators.
