International glass technology company Glaston Oyj Abp continues its collaboration with Fujitsu Services Oy on IT infrastructure services. A new Patja agreement was signed on May 20, 2010.
"We opted for renewing our Patja agreement, because over the past three years Fujitsu has grown to know our business and gained a deep insight in our IT environment. Moreover, Fujitsu's offer provided us with means to achieve cost savings and flexibility in business volume fluctuations. This decision was also facilitated by the fact that there was no need for a separate initiation project, since the environment was already there,” says CIO Ossi Lindroos of Glaston.
”The glass processing industry has suffered from the severe recession. Despite the sharply reduced demand we have managed to retain our market position. We believe that the market will start showing signs of recovery during the course of 2010. Particularly in China and the rest of Asia there are indications of better times,” Lindroos continues.
Glaston is the market leader in its field and one of Fujitsu's most international Patja customers. Only less than one third of the company's desktops reside in Finland. Glaston's main production plants abroad are located in Italy, Brazil and China.
”Our help desk in Vaasa provides integrated support in English to all Glaston sites. We also have the capability to handle desktop installations remotely to all of them regardless of their geographic location, without on-site support. Glaston plans to gradually give up its servers and take up Fujitsu's standardised capacity services. In other words, we have managed to develop a service model that offers our customers an integrated use environment, thereby enabling tangible cost savings,” says regional director Pasi Lehmus of Fujitsu's offices in Tampere.
