Finland OMG and Fujitsu sign agreement on Patja managed services

lokakuuta 13, 2009

Cobalt chemicals producer OMG Kokkola Chemicals and ICT services and hardware supplier Fujitsu Services Oy have entered into a Patja IT infrastructure service agreement extending to the end of 2012. OMG has been a Patja service customer since 2006. The agreement incorporates services for 330 workstations and 15 IT infrastructure servers at the company's Kokkola plant. The agreement also covers the product services for the workstations.

"We decided to renew our Patja agreement, because satisfaction among users has been steadily rising. Patja is an industrial service model that applies best practices and seeks continuous development. Whenever new service components are productised we determine whether to deploy them or not. For example, last spring our Patja service was complemented by the live meeting service. Also several new bids are being reviewed as we speak," says IT Manager Arto Ervasti of OMG.

The main reason for OMG Kokkola Chemicals to choose Fujitsu's Patja service three years ago was its adherence to international standards. The procedures of this American company that operates on a global market are governed by strict rules. Also Finland abides by the Sarbanes-Oxley act (SOX), which imposes regulations on the administration and management of all the businesses listed on a stock exchange in the USA.

"This, in practice, was the decisive factor that tipped the scale towards Fujitsu in choosing the IT supplier. The figures of the Patja service reports comply with the ITIL® (ITIL® is a Registered Trade Mark of AXELOS Limited) standards and are as such compatible with our global indicators which are required by the SOX act," Ervasti says.

OM Group Inc is an American-owned corporation listed on the New York stock exchange. The cobalt chemical produced at the Finland-based OMG Kokkola Chemicals Oy is among other things used in the products of the battery and paint industry as well as in the manufacturing of catalysts. The produce of the plant is primarily exported.
